Does anybody know what this object is??? It could be upside down, backwards, sideways or part of a larger thing..... I was on a ladder on the second floor of the farmhouse a while back and I spotted this thing in the attic space. One of the guys handed it down to me along with some cool magazines from the 1930's.
It's sitting on a wooden sawhorse in front of the lathwork on a wall. Can anybody tell me what in the world it is??????

I too am mystified, it reminds me of the things people used to send in to Yankee magazine, there was an old guy who could identify anything. I don't know if he still has a column in the magazine, but maybe you could check out a copy at the library?

wonder if it was the base to a baby cradle??? looks like the wood pieces on the bottom would have been where one could slide their foot onto the rungs and rock the baby while doing knitting or whatever nearby.

no idea what it was originaly used for, but i can think of a few ways to incorporate it into farmgirl decor! hang it from the ceiling for trailing plants or pots and pans, set it in the corner with a mini quilt over it, use on a kitchen counter to display pretty linnens...

I could be soooo off on this one, but it looks like the base of an old baby bassinet. I used to have one for my dollies that had a base just like it, then arms that came up to hold the basket part...but that's a total right field guess!

I think it is what's left of a rocking footstool.Maybe missing the top that your foot would rest on. My hubby built furniture in Tenneessee back in the 80's and this was one of the items he built. Is it the right size for a footstool? Hard to tell in the picture what the height would be. I'll try to dig up a picture of one of ours.
