Oh my goodness - we need an ark! It has been pouring down rain here for two days - a town just west of us has gotten over 5" of rain in the past 24 hours. Our front and back yards are both flooded - had to move the dog house and launder all their bedding this morning as the water was standing in it. Last year was terrible with the flooding, this year looks like it could be even worse!! Please look heavenward and ask for a bit of relief for our area from the incessant rains.

Sherri and the rest of us westcoasters will gladly accept donations of masks and snorkels too!! Got to get out to that barn to collect eggs somehow!!! Yep, sure has been a tad bit muggy this past two days...our creek has turned into a raging river. So far it's within its banks, but not for long if this keeps up.
Happy winter from the we(s)t coast!!

Sherri - I can feel your pain. Although we haven't gotten it as bad you guys have. But there are still trees down all over and standing water. It's dangerous to drive anywhere! It's supposed to stop tonight here and then be dry for the next 5 to 6 days.

We'll take some of that rain. All we got out of the storm was wind. It's been very windy the last two days. Little bits of rain here and there but not much. Hope the skies will let us take some from you.

I know all about that wind Madelynne - when we were building our cabin north of Billings, we had just gotten the framing up and a couple of sheets of OSB on the roof when my dh was called back to work. As we drove away, the wind was picking up and the next day I answered the phone to our neighbor calling to say the wind had PICKED UP our cabin - the few sheets of sheating we had on acted as a sail - and blown it off the foundation and onto it's side. This is a 16 X 24 cabin, with a lot of heavy rough cut old growth lumber in it. We had to drive back over (about 14 hours) and jack it back up with house jacks and secure it before it blew into the coulee! We learned in a hurry to double, or triple secure anything over there when we got ready to leave!

Throwing you a line, girls! Hang in there. Rivers cresting today?? I have a friend in Carnation who raises sheep...been wondering how her "swamp" is doing. It's always wet there it seems with creeks running through her place. Hope she's not losing any sheep.

ok, so had you told this 'transplanted So. California girl' all about this wacky weather up here,,,I may have sunk in my heals and stayed in the "Earthquake & Fire" State! lol!
Twixt & tween the snow, Ark full of rain, hurrendous winds!!!!,,,the winds woke me up the other morning, oh and the wayward cows on our property(got loose from their place)not to mention the dear sweet Deer desamating my plantings, well,,, I am still scratching my head thinking, "What was I thinking!"...more lols... but then I take stock of all the wonderful friends I have made up here, and the less stressed life style and more time to sew/craft, I have to admitt, I think I can survive, besides I love all the little quilt shops around here even if it means driving in 4feet of snow to get to them,,,I have a 4-wheel drive truck & I am not afraid to use it! hahahahaha!
Hang in there girls, if I can do it you can, if not we can all meet up for Martini's & plan a trip to Florida! lololol!

Wow - I watched it - my heart goes out to everyone who is getting that much rain. Tropical Storm Fay brought 23 inches to us last August, and gusty winds. So I am thinking of you all and hope it stops soon!

Angie - the lake in front is still standing - unfortunately, dh had just taken the front yard down to hard pan - ready to put new topsoil and sod down - so the water's still there. The flip side is - we now know we need to put drain tile in before we put the sod down!! Things are a lot better all around though today.

Sherri my daughter lives in Monroe Wa and the Snohmish River runs right behind her house, she said two years ago they put up a new retaining wall and the water came up to it and her back doorstep. I hope it recedes a bit as it was ready to roll over the banks yesterday. I tis kinda scary huh?

It is scary. Last year - almost exactly a year ago - my son and dil had to be rescued from the roof of a barn when they went to save their horses where they had them pastured. Something really needs to be done about this flooding - it has really gotten bad in the past few years. On a lighter note - I used to live in MOnroe when I was in high school - right on Main St. My dad taught at the reformatory. Boy has that town grown and changed!!

I have a student stuck up past Greenwater because Hwy 410 is closed due to mudslides. I sure hope they get them cleared so he can make it down tomorrow to participate in the class final practical exam! Some of the damage has been amazing. I don't know what can be done about the flooding issues... it would be nice if something could be done.

Angie - we went up to Seattle today to buy some display gridwall for my business and decided to drive home "the long way" so we could check out our old house in Enumclaw - see what they'd done with it. We got as far as Black Diamond and found out 169 was closed. Had to go way around to get back to Crain Corner. What happened there - something happen to the Green River Bridge, or was there another mudslide on that road?
