Hi everyone!! I am so glad I starting getting MaryJanes magazine and came to her website. It is nice to be able to chat with other women who have the same interests and lifestyles!!
We moved to our place almost one year ago. We had built a garage when we first got the property. Well.... we sold our house in December and moved into the garage. Due to the economy we are staying put in our "house" now until whenever. We want to get our farm established a bit so we can stay home and do that.
We had a nice size garden this year and got another garage/shed built just very recently. In the spring we plan on getting some chickens going and then will start in on beef.

Welcome Rae! I love Minnesota....lived there years ago..my second son (who is 28 now) was born there. Where is Kettle Falls? I lived on Sand Lake...our address was Deer River..but it was 27 miles away. We were between Grand Rapids and Bemidji.
It will be fun to get to know you here!!

Hi all!!
Kettle River is about 50 miles southwest of Duluth. It is a very small town of about 190 and we live in the country :-)
No we have never lived in Ely but some of my husbands sisters did after high school.

Sure is nice to have a place to get and share info!!!!

Hi Rae, Four years ago we moved from Minnesota to northeastern Wa. We still have 40 some acres near Willow River which my son is taking care of now so we know the area well. JoAnn

Hello and you are just in my back yard!!!! How do you like where you are now?? We are supposed to be getting that crappy rain/snow stuff today. Snow I don't mind at least you stop in that but ice just scares me.

Hi Rae from a fellow Minnesotan. I live in Sandstone during the week for my job, and then go home to the farm in Popple Creek
on weekends and holidays. Can't wait til I can find a job closer to the farm so I can be there all the time. Good luck with
your farm... they are alot of work but, oh, so worth it!! ~Vicky~

Sorry Rae forgot to answer your question. We love it here. We still wanted to live in a place that had four season but wanted the winter season to be a little shorter: ) We are very snowy here this year (great cross country skiing) but the temps on average are milder. But what I didn't bargain on and what is wonderful is there is no humidity here during the summer! It will get hot but cools off wonderfully in the evening. I miss the loons though. Here there are very few. Don't have the 10,000 lakes. We did manage to find recreational property that is walking distance to a mountain lake full of panfish. Thought we would have to forgo that when we moved here. Have to have my beer battered fish: ) Hi to Vicki also. JoAnn P.S Was at a library meeting luncheon and four of the people at my table were former Minnesotans

Welcome Rae from a former Minnesotan - suburbs of Minneapolis. You'll love it here and will learn so much from all the other Farmgirls and threads. It's a great place to be.
