OK, thanx to the motivation from some of you,,,I decided to make a denim apron w/o a pattern....
Since I can not for the life of me figure out how to post pic's here you'll have to go to my blog for a peek.
I wear a size 6/8 & I found that using the backside (butt) of the jeans would make the apron to small, but perfect for a child.
As for the use of the legs/thigh...I choose to stitch two legs together to make a larger apron.
So take a peek at my blog to see what they look like.

Really cute and great way to use up worn out jeans. I have a stack of them in my craft closet that I use for purses and quilts but the apron idea is great! I can cover the holes and stains with pockets and embellishments! Thanks for sharing.

I love what Lisamarie did with the "jean butt" to make a cute apron (Blue jean Apron).
I'll have to "borrow" your great idea, I already have the "jean butt"...lol!

Go for it, Grace. They're actually a lot of fun to make. Watch out, though. You'll get all kinds of ideas with different fabrics and laces and you'll want to make more! lol

I'm very impressed - I've only seen them done with either the back-pocket side or one of the legs with the center seam removed. Very clever and oh so cute!
