Hi! I'm Lisa from Lenox Township Ohio which is in Ashtabula County. My husband of 12 years and I have been blessed with 50 acres of beautiful property - we were in the right place at the right time!
I love living out in the country! So do our 4 dogs - a basset/lab mix and 3 labs - they love it - run around CONSTANTLY. I like to scrapbook, quilt, garden, and can(getting ready to do apples this weekend). I'm so glad to have found this forum! I found the magazine first(trial issue through the mail), LOVED it, and decided to explore the website. It's awesome!!
I hope to make new friends here...

Welcome Lisa, I too like to quilt, garden and can. My garden is done now. We have had some frost here in central Kentucky, and it got the end of things. I'm kind of glad!!! But I'm already planning for next planting season.

Thanks girls! I will post some pics of the property - I think I have some on Photobucket of last fall, not sure. It is beautiful here right now. Each season is so dramatically different here, I love it - even the smells are different.
Ada, are you canning anything from your garden? We built our house 2 years ago and didn't put in a garden the first year, or the last year in our old house and I missed canning SO MUCH. Especially tomatoes. This year we put a quick one in and the dogs LOVE tomatoes and at most of them...I didn't have enough to can. Next year....we're putting a picket fence(hopefully) around it - I want the dogs to at least be able to come in the garden with me because they love it so much. But I did buy apples, so I'm canning apple pie filling this weekend. Chuck planted some apple trees this fall so hopefully we'll have our own in a couple of years.
Well, I can ramble ON AND ON....beware! :)
Do I put my blog spot in the "tag" part? Then you can see some pics I have there too...

Hi, Lisa, and welcome from one of the Louisiana farm girls. You're gonna love it here. We have 60 acres and three dogs, and they love the idea they can run and romp and stomp all over, including in the pastures with the cows, and ending their fun in the pond! So glad you joined us -- you're gonna fit right in!

HEY DAWN! Awesome!!!! I wondered if there were any Ohio farm girls! YES we got snow this morning - only stuck to the dirt, mulch, and wood pile. We're supposed to be in the 50s and 60s by tomorrow - already sunny out again. My DH is a truck driver - over the road - I'll ask him where Ashaldn is.....I'd LOVE to meet up! I'm gonna go check out your blogs....

My hubby used to truck too... see? we already have something in common! Maybe we can brainstorm together on some homemade Christmas gifts or make cookies together. I hate making so many of them all by myself and its always better when you can share the "loot". I figure we are about 2 hours away. Theres a couple more farmgirls south of us, Amy in Columbus, (forgive me as I am forgetting names) Kelli in....well south of Mansfield...I think her name is Heather and she's down by Cinci....there may be more... I'm just brain farting... ewwww.
I'm planning a "gathering" here in the spring. I'd love you to be able to come down for it! Sure to be a good time. We'll have farmgirls from Indiana, Missouri and locally here. Good times my friend! I'm glad you like it here. Its a neat place!!

Count me in! I'd be happy to come! I'm used to travelling distances since we chose to move out to Ashtabula County. My sister lives in Strongsville which takes me about an hour and 20 minutes and we see each other pretty often - probably more so than we did when we lived 20 minutes apart!
I feel the same way about the cookies.....more fun to bake together than alone in your kitchen....
We'll definitely have to get in touch!
