Here are some updated coop pictures. The only thing missing are the nest boxes, and some finishing trim on the outside (and the little chicky door).
The interior is a reject purple I originally got to paint my spare bedroom, but turned out to be the wrong color. (Candy Violet--too magenta, I decided on a more royal purple with bright white trim and accessories for my room). The interior white is leftover from the same spare bedroom. The roost is painted with some leftover sage colored paint from my other bedroom.
The exterior colors are modeled after some of the older homes in the Portland/Seattle area.
The wood is about 90% recycled from my neighbor's renovation, the roof tiles were salvaged from another neighbor, and the windows are actually glass doors from an old book case!
The ladies have been sleeping in it and they seem quite pleased :-D |

Wow, that's a colorful hen house. Those girls will be stylin' for sure! I am jealous. My poor ole hens don't even have real windows, just wire. And a half door to keep goats out.
You are very creative, Mary, and you'll be the talk of the neighborhood! I love that you reused stuff you already had. Good for you.
Is it going to have steps up to the door for the hens? How do you get in?

There will be a ramp leading to the little hen door. The little hen door is actually on the bigger 'people' door.
There will also be an egg door that will allow me to reach into the nest boxes without opening the big door.
From the same bookcase we also have a pretty stained glass window which we're going to mount on the east facing wall (right hand wall in the pics). |

Can't wait to see the finished house. I just might have to make a few changes in the future on mine. You've given me inspiration to keep on with the chicken bosiness. Right now I'm seriously thinking mass murder. |
