My grandmother gave me my great granny's quilt from the 1950's, and all the tools I need to learn how to do canning next year. My mom gave me a water distiller. I was pleased as can be ... if any of you read the topic a few days ago about what is the one thing you want to have or something like that... anyway I posted that I wanted my grandma's quilt and it's funny because I hadn't said anything to her about it since I was 16 years old, but thats what she gave me for my birthday this year.. 11 years ago I told her IO loved that quilt. I thought that it was pretty special that she remembered that all these years!

you can be oh so smart, or you can be oh so positive. I wasted a lot of time being smart I prefer being positive.

Happy Birthday, Bobbi!! It sounds like it was filled with wonderful memories and special surprises. Especially when you got the quilt from your grandma, what a treasure. Hope you have many more days this year that are just as special. Blessings to you!

Hey Bobbi, Happy Birthday!!!!! to you a day late and also to your mother. It was her birth day too! Julie will be in touch about recipes as soon as she gets a minute. Girls, Bobbi is helping us test recipes for our upcoming Farm Kitchen Workbook and giving us valuable feedback. Bobbi, once we get going on our beginner's canning primer (workbook), sounds like you should help us test those recipes too.

Happy birthday to you Bobbie from another farm girl in Washington. What special gifts you have received!
Hope you snuggled down under that wonderful quilt last night for a warm cuddly rest. The tools to learn to can your food is also a wonderful gift. Happy learning and eating of your own efforts.

Thank you all, and yes I would be thrilled to work on the canning workbook! I did snuggle under my quilt last night and it was a great day!

happy birthday to you!!!!!! What an amazing gift to receive. You must be so happy!! What a connection to have and to hold. I couldn't be happier for you. bobbi, how close are we? me in Spokane you in Newman Lake? I'm hardly a pro canner but certainly have done my share.. you will love it. There's something so nice about seeing a pantry filled with homemade, homegrown produce! This year I've decided to make all my christmas gifts. This summer I hosted 16 from my family for a week on our farm. It was huge fun. I made everyone a gift bag including canned goods.. I even made the gift bags from the pattern in MaryJane's magazine. I changed the dimensions slightly and they turned out so wonderful. I'm planning to do something very similar for christmas including all kinds of canned things and homemade crackers. I went to the mall the other day after months and months. I was shopping for someone who is a mall-goer. I left thinking, " that building was just filled with stuff!" ugh.. I came home and made something myself to give. It totally confirmed my idea that there are few of us who need more stuff. I think we are better off receiving gifts of the heart and gifts of ourselves. Your birthday sentiment certainly holds true to this idea. I have lit a candle in honor of you, dear scorpio! happy happy happy!!!!

I'm about 30 minutes east of downtown spokane, and if you are in Medical lake you would be about 15 or so minutes west from downtown spokane so we are a little under an hour from eachother on the freeway.
