OK now you seem to be the one I need to go visit. Wish I lived closer so I could take some of your classes and talk you into giving me some OJT in the canning department. I canned a 6 pints of beets and 6 quarts of applesauce this week and I think I dirtied every pot, pan, bowl, spoon...in my entire kitchen. I definitely need some remedial lessons! Your blog is an inspiration!

Oh my goodness! I sure hope so, I need all the "flow" I can get. It is a lot of work but I do enjoy it so I guess I'll keep plugging along! Thanks for the encouragement!

it would be a geat idea to have a video streaming of what other farm girls are doing in their area!!! perhaps although we all are not near each other, it would be nice to still be able to learn from our experienced sister and see video of farmgirl gatherings! I am just starting and have so so many ideas buzzing in my head and I'd love to see what other farmgirls are doing so I can learn!.

i think that some application can be set up into the site where anyone who decides to video record farm girl activities can do so by uploading...
(a farm girl version of your tube!!)

I'll try to look it up and get back to you all...

Loved your blog..gosh I wish we were neighbors!! I have often thought it would be fun to teach little classes in some of the things I love to do. So many folks don't seem to know how to do basic things that are so helpful with being frugal and cooking with wholesome fresh ingredients. I am so inspired by you!!

Frugal Feasting site is wonderful, Jen. So glad to see you doing such a good job with it, too. I'm eager to see your book when it comes out. How are you doing with it?

I'm just down the road a piece from you, in southwest Washington. I just harvested most (but not all) our tomatoes from the greenhouse yesterday, still have a few that are reddening up. Southwest Washington is more a three season place. Our winter's aren't very hard. I always have winter salad plants -- kale, cabbage, potatoes, sunchokes, etc. -- that make it through the whole winter.

Your rolls look so YUMMY I am considering running downstairs and starting a batch right now. Thanks for the inspiration!

warmly,
Jacqueline Freeman

Jacqueline,
Thank you!
I never heard of Venersborg. You're by Mt. St. Helens? We'll be heading down to the mountain for a field trip, we homeschool.
Glad to hear from a fellow WA farmgirl.

I want to come live with you. Your bread looks good. I make our bread but lately it's not been turning out so good. Kind of heavy and not as fluffy as usual. I grind the grain and use a DLX machine. It looks like yours. Basically the same recipe. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I think I am going to invest in a Zojarushi (?) bread machine. All the other women who make bread around here have one and their rolls are so soft and fluffy. They even put seeds in theirs. I tried the bread recipe that is in the new Mother Earth mag where you make a batch, put it in the fridge and use what you need. It lasts up to 2 weeks in the fridge. It was ok, but I will have to work on it more. Pictures always make things look so good. Mine never look like the pictures. I'd like to try your pumpkin bread and rolls.

Your blog is great. Beautiful pictures. Worth the wait on dial-up.

Kris

Kris, Bridget & Farmgirls,
There isn't much that I would like better than to have you around our kitchen table, drinking some herb tea and chatting .... and maybe eating some rolls or something. Especially at this time of year.

Have a Blessed Thanksgiving!!!
