Do you think if I put a few drops of Dr. Bronners with water in the detergent tank of my carpet steam cleaner, it would work?? I hate paying almost $9 for a bottle of the environmentally friendly stuff and end up using the whole thing in one shot.

Heather- you could try it! As long as you keep it below a sudsing level, you should be fine.

I'd offer to mail you my leftover bottle of biodegradable, nontoxic carpet detergent. But the postage would probably be $9!

Good luck with the Dr. Bronner's.

HA!! Thanks Amie.

I tried it, I put about 1 tablespoon and filled up the rest with water. IT was sudsy but not too much and now it smells like lovely lavendar. I made sure to do a clear water rinse too. Thanks!!! Thrify and clean...I love it!!!

I'll have to try that next time I break out the carpet shampooer.

I have heard folks say they have used the peroxide/baking soda/hand soap mixture in their steam cleaners and it worked too...I'm glad to know this worked as well - I have to do some carpets soon and I'm always looking for cheaper ways of getting things done!!

In a pinch I also have used Dr. Bronner's soaps in the washing machine

it's so hard to find REAL smelling lavender products sometimes
