#3 would make me stop and open the magazine. It doesn't fade into the myriad of same old same old- my thoughts anyway-

They are all beautiful, but I have to vote for...#1! I love the brightness of the cover and the smiles on the girl's faces are angelic. You do not often see that type of photo on the cover of a Christmas magazine. It would definitely stand out from the others.

Is this a "HOLIDAY" issue or a "CHRISTMAS" issue? I know it reads "Homemade Christmas" but because MaryJanesFarm is now a national magazine, I can't help but wonder if the cover would be more inclusive if it was more Holiday oriented. This may seem like semantics because so much of the Holiday Spirit is focused on Christmas in this country, but let me assure you that there are millions of people, who do not celebrate Christmas but celebrate another equally beautiful and breath-taking Holiday that echoes the sentiments of warmth, giving, humility and awe.
As far as an exclusive Christmas issue is concerned, all the covers are gorgeous! Cover #1 is unique and different to the Christmas theme and definitely carries a brilliant Norwegian feel but I was struck by it's lack of ethnicity. Covers #4 and #5 were breath-taking but not stand-outish enough to earn my vote. Cover #3 is gorgeous and unique in terms of displaying a Christmas tree and this would be my vote for a Christmas Issue.
My overall vote, however, goes to COVER #2 for either a Christmas Issue or a Holiday Issue. I have never seen the season displayed this way and there are 2 very striking elements about it. The first is the simple and beautiful idea of ice-skating on an open pond. We so seldom see this anymore and I think it fits the theme of MaryJanesFarm of simplicity and beauty. The other is the exquisite silk flower featured, which I think is a wonderful follow-up to the magazine featuring the article about conventional versus organic flower growing and also the dramatic improvements made in the embellishing world of floral silks.
That is certainly MORE than my nickel's worth, but there it is nonetheless! Carol, just brilliant work as usual! Congratulations! ~julia hayes

There is just something about #3 that caught my eye. It's nice and clean and simple, I think. 4 and 5 look like any other Christmas magazine cover, like Country Home maybe. #2 just looks like a shoe to me, not holiday at all. #1 is ok, but...
#3 for me for sure.

#2 is my first choice...looks like an MJF cover to me. #1 was a close second. The rest look like all the other country mags I see on the shelves at Christmas.

Definately my vote is for #2 Ice Skates! It is much more original than the other covers and more inclusive of everyone during the Holiday Season.

Hmm -- Good comments about being more inclusive . . . So if it's a Christmas issue, I affirm my original vote for #1; if it's a Holiday issue, I'm with #2, but it may need a bit more oomph.
My second two-cents worth. (How many cents may we spend?!?)

My first choice is number 3, second choice is number 2. Number 3 is the one that grabbed my attention right away, and I liked the focus on the homemade, recycled ornaments.
My husband (he came and looked over my shoulder, so now he has to vote) likes only number 2 and no others. He says it's aesthetically the best layout.
I didn't like number 2 at all when I first looked at it, mainly because the orange color of the flower seemed out of place with the red and green heading. But the uniqueness grew on me. And I would so love to go ice skating like we did when we were kids! |

#2 is the best! It has strong MaryJane style, stands out from other Christmas magazine covers, and is visually "can't tear my eyes off it". The others are very nice, but this one just holds my eye so much longer. The red, white, and black are so striking. The iceskate is evokative of ponds, the camilia is so striking.. Oh, I hope this one wins!

I just had to comment on the ice skate being more inclusive - us southern girls have never seen a pair in real life- much less worn them!!! Just a funny- we have to really work at the snow idea too- but we have good imaginations down here.

Number 2 is my favorite! It has the MaryJane Farmgirl Flair feel to it. Then number 3 & 1 respectfully.
I do like 4 and 5 but they just don't scream anything special or extrodinary to me. They look to much like what every other magazine does. MaryJane's is special and in my opinion the cover should reflect that.
