My garbage disposal has the most awful smell. I've had this happen at other places I've lived but have used baking soda in it and the smell disappeared. This time that's not working. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Thanks so much.
I agree- let it chew up a whole whole lemon. The fiber of the lemon will help sweep out anything that might be stinky, the acidic nature of the lemon will kill germs and cut grease. It's a great combo!
I'll chime in and agree with the citrus solution! I've used a lemon, lime, orange, etc. and all seem to do the trick. Just dump it in whole (or half if you're concerned about it) and let it churn it up. Lemon seemed to be best, but I just use whatever I have on hand. Maybe do a vinegar/bs rinse to follow? Also, you could double check with a flashlight to be sure there isn't anything hanging around in there. I once had a piece of fat wrapped around my disposal blades and it just wouldn't go down no matter what, so I had to fish it out.
