I found this website awhile back and it has become one of my favorite (well second to MaryJanesFarm) to just peck around at, there is so much awesome information that is easy to read.... Hope you'll enjoy it too. http://organicconsumers.org/organicfood.cfm

Awesome! thank you both! I have been looking for a close as possible source for organic meat and poultry even if it means i have to have it shipped. I found several on the website from you, Rene! I looked on some of the websites from BK's book Animal, Vegeatable, Mineral and got no where. There were some but they didn't ship or they had no website or way of contacting them; just an address. Your site is great and I think it will get me what I have been wanting! You gals are PHENOMINAL!!!!

Hey Sam, Check www.eatwild.com These people are amazing. I have heard Jo speak several times and love her, and some of my favorite people are associated with this site,I think it will be helpful.

Wow!! Thanks for the wonderful websites listed!! I live in an area that is still being criticized for being a farming community. Many move-ins believe the local yokels are doing it all wrong. My husband and I are both 5th generation farmers/ranchers and have been raising grass-fed beef for nearly 12 years now. It is great to finally see people realize the importance of knowing where their food came from! The website, www.eatwild.com, was absolutely wonderful, Thanks for sharing all your great farmgirl knowledge!! |

Kristin~ Congrats to you and your hubby.. I know it takes some "heart" to be 5th generation farmers... hats off to you. Welcome, so glad that you are here...My husband and I both come from farming families, and I certainly feel richer for it.

I was watching, ( listening to) Farm Aid today. Some of the stats about the amount of farm ground that has been lost, and huge amount of chemical that is being dumped or has been dumped.. learning about new terms the companies use such as "soft chemcials".... It all is so much to take in and to really be willing to learn and absorb.. Personally, I am finding that buying local, growing heirloom that have been grown with organic practices is the key. It is like 3 sides to the same coin. And for the things I cannot grow or raise I can go to www.localharvest.org and find farmers/ranchers and CSA's that I can buy from. I also love what slowfood.org is doing and teaching and they have at wealth of info at www.slowfoodusa.org
