i've always said that despite the fact that i love earthy primitive .. i MUST have some 'color' in my life. i found this little 'sugar bowl' .. it matches some other plates and a large platter (not pictured) that i already own .. so i brought it home too!

Frannie,

I love reading your posts! You make even the ordinary exdtraordinary. You're like the "Mary Poppins" of the Henhouse! I've got a long-time friend who's an antique dealer in Reisterstown, Maryland. I've know him and his wife for 30+ years. He's always going to auctions and finding stuff for his shop. I've purchased the heavy, green pottery mugs from him but they have flowers and wheat on them. I own 4 and his prices per mug were never over $9.00. All I have to do is let him know I'm interested and he'll keep his eyes peeled. If he gets um cheap, he sells um cheap!
If this would be a help, please let me know cause I'd love to help you grow your collection.

bonnie .. thanks for those sweeeeeeeeeeet words .. you make my heart smile!

oh my gosh! do you remember NOW 'N THEN in Reisterstown? they've been gone for several years .. sooo .. maybe they were there before you got there. i'd say almost HALF my house in maryland came from there! it was absolutely the BEST antiques shoppe in the state of MARYLAND ... darlene and mary were the owners. (and NEITHER drove a car .. but they were in an olde house in the historic distric (main street) .. downstairs was VERY primitive .. upstairs was 'eclectic Victorian' .. you just roamed from room to room to room .. to nook to cranny! i shopped both floors! they got the BEST treasures! i never went through their doors that i didn't fill my car full!!! mary got ovarian cancer .. and even though she seemed to be doing well .. they closed their shoppe about a year later .. when i moved away i lost contact with them. do you remember them?

i don't know the green mugs with flowers and wheat??? that sure is a great price though! if he gets some ..pleeeeze let me know ... meanwhile .. that is one of my 'quests' .. since HA! i know it doesn't seem like it .. but i hardly ever buy anything anymore! NOT compared to what i used to do! GOT a whole SCHOOLHOUSE full to prove it!! i'm letting go of 'most' of my VICKIE stuff .. jus' have to get TO it .. it's buried in boxes and boxes piled upon boxes and boxes! gosh .. there is not even a 'pathway in that three room school house now.

AND .. i think i finally have enuff 'grey enamel pie and biscuit pans too! xo

i probably just want about 8 of them. (i got 8 'brown' ones that i like .. but i LOVE the green!

thanks gurlfren .. jus' keep me posted! xo

joy sweetie .. my mission will now to find grey enamel pie pans at a GREAT price for YOU! i don't think i can squeeze one more in that little rack of mine! i think i have about 30 now .. that should be enuff!

thanks miz alee .. most of it was tucked on the shelf under my table .. it was surely time to get it out so it could 'strut it's stuff'! AND .. they will be more accessible for actually using. i love using my olde stuff! have pretty much gotten rid of most of the 'new'. xo

Frannie,

I Do know Now 'N Then. And I knew Darlene and Mary. I occasionally see Darlene and hubby Mike at the Spring Meadow Farms in upper Reisterstown. One of their twin-adult daughters works there. When the gals had their shop, I used to put some of my artwork in the store. More when Darlene was on her own. I too have stuff from their shop. But most of my house comes from Relics of Olde, in Reisterstown, Md. Fred and Carol Shamer have been on the street longer than Darlene and Mary. Fred's dad had a junk/antique store in Reisterstown back in the mid to late 70's. When he died, Fred just took over. He has the best stuff at the lowest prices around town. I've had to refinish some but others were just right! Just went to his shop last week (hadn't been all summer-my bad) and loaded up on sooooo much great stuff. He finds the most unusual and darling glass/canning jars. Unusual shapes and sizes. I store everything in them-from soup to spools of thread. I bought great glassware-it reeeeeally has to be unusual for me to buy and it was. Old feed sacks and pieces of quilts. And, he had a whole box of glass stoppers-like the ones on oil or vinegar jars and I needed 8. So many to choose, with great colors, and shapes. Gave me the whole box for $8.00.:) I also collect yellow-ware and I bought two bowls for under $55.00. He knows me so he always gives me great prices. I'll try to post pics-(I'm a little rusty) soon. Other shops you may remember that are still aroung on Main Street-Derby's Antiques-Dick Coppersmith is the owner and Tins'a Antiques-owner-Tina. It's not what it used to be and these shops aren't run by youngsters anymore. It's so amazing that we shopped in the same circles-maybe we even passed by each other unawares! All I can say is that it's such a small world and I'm glad you're in mine!

Hugs,
Bonnie

bonnie .. is mary o.k.? if so .. what is she doing now? they are both so mega-talented. darlene, i think was doing shows after their shoppe closed. is she still doing this? oh my gosh! if you ever see them .. please tell them that 'Frannie .. from Crooked Tree Hollow Doll Club' sends them my love!'

is fred and carol's shoppe on the same side of the street .. jus' up a little ways? i usta' get great stuff there too. i actually don't remember the names of any of the other shoppes .. but me and my 'gurlz' would often head there for a fun day of tiquing!

sam .. they do look so 'autumn-ish' don't they! i'm going back for more when i get back from ohio! come on up to visit and i'll take you there! xo

Frannie,

I've completely lost track of Mary. Last time I saw her was years ago at the Reisterstown Festival. I don't think that Darlene and Mike do many (if any) shows now. Their two daughters (the twins) had a stall in the Westminster Antique Mall until last month. They're taking some time off and hope to be back next year. Yes, Fred and Carol's place was on the same side, just up the street. He's now across the street with a much bigger shop which means I can get into more trouble! You're right, hmmmmm who else do we know in common?

Be well and Maryland hugs,
Bonnie

bonnie .. i probably won't get back on line until next tuesday when we get back from ohio .. .but do you live in baltimore proper?

most of my 'homeys' were in the annapolis, severna park, pasadena, glen burnie area. we ventured thither and yon .. but the 'dolly club' gurlz were my main buds!

Frannie,

I live in Pikesville, which is in the burbs of Baltimore County. That said, my house is only 3 miles from the outer city limits. Annopolis, Severna Park, etc. is anywhere from 45 min. and up from me. Glen Burnie is the closest. So, we probably know some of the same business owners but not the same buds:(

Have a great time in Ohio, safe journey, and be well.

Hugs,
Bonnie

well sweetie pies ... i just needed that music tonight!

had a little 'biopsy-ette' on a bump-ette on my thyroid today! and when a gurl is feelin' a little 'apprehensive' .. it is so swell to hear she is thought kindly of! i'm pretty sure i'm gonna' be o.k. ... my doc isn't worried ... and she says it wouldn't even be much too much to worry about if it was a little sumpthin' nasty!

well .. reading your sweet words .. and seeing our grand-daughters sound asleep in their cribs when we arrived in toledo ... sure cheered me up! i can hardly wait until the morning when they are awake and i can hug and squeeze on them! i DID get lots of snuggles from grandson lucas .. he waited up for our arrival!

oh .. and i'm pretty sure we're not supposed to discuss 'religion' .. but i'm gonna' ask for special thoughts, vibes, prayers from all ya'll .. to YOUR powers!

xoxo

Frannie--sending good vibes and thoughts your way, but I know that everything will be okay! Your optimism and spirit will just win out! I love the yellowware in your cupboard. It looks very striking against the stone wall....and the pumpkins and gourds are great!
