we bought this wonderful olde step-back cupboard in Niwot, Colorado about 30 years ago ... it's been in the 'schoolhouse' since moving here to Kentucky in these little cabins.

now that the 'stove' has been moved from the 'fireplace' stone wall .. i reeeeeeeeely wanted to put this cupboard there. this evening while i was at our Arts Council meeting in town .. the guys moved it to the kitchen. i just leaped for joy when i came home!!

can hardly wait to pick and choose jus' the perfect antique pottery to go in it!!!

ohhhhhhhhh .. color me HAPPY!!! xo

Do you just like antique pottery? I've got a friend here who does clay things and is fairly good. I'm already thinking of sending you bread, if you'd like a coffee mug or something I could see about that as well.

(along with four more grey enamel 'biscuit' tins! i have some newer mugs that i pull out when i have more company than i have olde mugs.

now BREAD .. or COOKIES .. lordy! lordy! chile' .. send them along .. i'll get the milk jug out in anticipation!

you are a sweetie-pie!

hope you got that 'chocolate' fix ... ha! or WINE! and are feelin' better now! xo

Frannie what a Really Wonderful piece!!!!

Taking things out of "storage" is like having something New! We have alot of things still in a storage unit we rent to keep extra "things". Dave brought out my Grandmothers ole upholstered rocker and ottoman from the storage last week for me to put in my sew room. We have had it for 30 years too and have re-upholstered it 5 times .... We have had 5 houses since we have been married and every time we moved we changed the fabric! I had it in my living room in this house for many years and then changed things out some in my Living room a few years ago sooooo it has been sitting and waiting for me to figure out another place for it! .......... Just decided a couple of weeks ago that I had to have that ole Rocker back in the house soooooo made room for it in my sewing/studio!!! ......We Rocked our son in it when he was little so it holds many memories for us as well as my memory of it in my Grandparents home!! It has the most wonderful squeak when you rock in it! Very comforting sound! Have FUN deciding what to put in it!!!

Until Later,
Audrey

Gorgeous cupboard with potential! I see a nice collection of yellowware housed in there. Or...colorful pottery such as Fiestaware. It looks nice against the brick wall.

Frannie...she found it at a consignment shop here in town...got it for $35!!!! I was so jealous...but it fits just right in her kitchen corner. I call it her sweet shop, b/c she has a cookie jar and pie plate that rests on it and they are always full!

thanks for the sweet wishes dearheart. that beautiful olde piece has lots of memories already ... including all those that came before us .. i hope it will find a place in the home of our grandes someday. (postin' pics is reeeeeeeely easy) i think the instructions are on here somewheres or t'other. i use PHOTOBUCKET to do mine. once you open your account .. all ya' gotta' do is grab 'em .. put them on photobucket .. then come here .. hit the little 'mountain and sun icon .. and copy it between the little symbol that comes up. ha! i know .. that is clear as mud .. but that is indeedy doooo how easy it is. xo

oh honey .. it's only been hidden for the FIVE years that we have lived in Kentucky .. it went from our Colorado Mountain home to our Rocky Mountain High Denver home .. to our Severn Riverside Beach House in Annapolis .. to our Magothy River forest home jus' outside annapolis.

jus' wasn't any room for it here until we moved that dang stove from in front of that beautiful stone wall.

it's like meeting an olde friend.

p.s. i've been peeking in on your blog and all your wonderfuls too!! you are a DELIGHT! xo

Frannie,

Girl, you've got the "eye!" To think you had the foresight to pluck up this piece 30 years ago. I know that you'll find just the right treasures for it-maybe those green barrel jugs!

Frannie, I love the cupboard it fits in your home so well. I love the look of that table too! I wondered, I have seen many mentions of your other homes, do you have any pictures of them you could post? I would love to see how you decorated them as well. The places where you lived are such beautiful parts of the country.

mary jane .. i do have some photos on those olde 'floppy disk' things .. but i just cannot figure out how to get them configured into this new computer of mine.

our mountain home in evergreen, colorado is where i first fell in love with 'primitive' .. the 'poor people's' kind .. the hand-dids and home-mades. our home was a three story A frame (actually, the third floor was a LOFT) .. VERY mountain-dahling! with all glass on one side of the A-frame from ground to tippy top. our view was nothing short of MAGNIFICENT!!!

we then moved to a big DENVER SQUARE home in 'denver .. colorado' .. just a ways down the mountain. i was still 'transitioning' as i slowly got more and more primitive antique furniture .. HA! many a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for dinner as 'mom' spent all the grocery money on more olde stuff! (this is where my kids started calling me an 'antique-a-holic'!

THEN we moved back east .. to a 'beach community' .. but in a wonderful olde dutch colonial home just off the Severn River. yep! MORE PRIMITIVES!

next move .. a most wonderful large home on the Magothy River which we named: Crooked Tree Hollow (for a big 'ole Crooked Tree in a Hollow' of our land!). NOW .. all of a sudden .. i started loving prissy things too .. NOT FURNITURE .. but turn of the century crisp white linens .. children's antique furniture, toys, clothing, games .. we had four guest rooms upstairs after the girls went off to college and/or got married. i SWEAR they were often referred to as a "DOLL HOUSE" .. i had them so wonderful decorated .. floor to ceiling .. wall to wall with delightful treasures. This is where i 'retired' from the Government in D.C. and started presenting both children and women's TEA PARTIES .. and started our WONDERFUL doll club ... i once had quite a famous doll teacher (elinor peace bailey) come and after a weekend with me .. she said: Frannie .. you have as much of a Friendship Club as you do a Doll Club. You have created a 'theatre' here .. and you STAR on the stage" ... HA!!! i had never thought of it that way .. but she was sure right! i loved drama (only the happy kind though!) and .. oh gosh .. i guess this is why i am so in love with the VERY VERY .. FANCY NANCY doll that i got for my two year old grand-daughter.

Downstairs it was all LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE ... upstairs .. the four guest bedrooms and two baths were completely a FANTASY world! oh lordy .. most of that stuff is still packed up in the big 'schoolhouse' here!

Next Stop for honey-hunk and me ... KENTUCKY and two civil war log cabins .. which BEG to be honored with PRIMITIVE!

(i did have TWO rooms that were prissy .. my laundry room .. which i have now stripped (when we had it painted .. have not put ANYTHING back on the walls in there .. waiting for our stackable washer and dryer .. then i'll have fun playing 'doll house' in there.

My guest bathroom is still TRES PRISSY! (but, in time .. that, too, will be primitized.) GOSH .. i do wish i could get those dang disks to spit out some pictures. i tried to give a 'verbal picture' here. thanks for asking sweetie! xoxo
