First I want to thank all of you that answered my question on goat milk soap. Next I was wondering if any of you have any ideas on how to package my soap? I am selling my soap and the profits it will be going to the Pontotoc National Guard Amory to help support the troops with care packages while they are deployed. My oldest son is part of this troop.
Tanks,
Laura

I've seen soaps packaged in brown paper, cellophane bags and scraps of fabric tied with ribbon or string. The paper and fabric are my favorites. You could reuse grocery bags for the paper and collect scraps from thrift stores and stuff for the fabrics.

I have also seen the soaps sold completely unwrapped which I think is fine too.

Hi Laura,
I just thrifted about 6 yards of the greatest flag printed cotton fabric and I will be glad to cut you some and send it to you for wrapping your soaps in. Just email me your address and I'll get it out in the mail asap.

Fabric strips are pretty when I've seen them around soap. I really like the ideas that Bonne posted below.

Greetings, Laural! You could wrap the soap in pretty hankies, comic strips, bits of old wrapping paper; if you use the brown paper you could stamp on a cute design and tie it with colored raffia to match the color of the ink. If any of your soaps are suitable for babies, you could get a pack of cheap baby shower-themed nicknacks (or big diaper pins) and tie one on with ribbon. You could gather leaves, free for the taking(!) and wrap the soap in a leaf and tie with raffia. If the soaps are scented, you could use the tags found at office supply stores and write the scent on one side, and a cute saying on the other, like "cleanliness is next to godliness" or "don't forget....behind your ears!" Lots of possibilities, and I bet some other farmgals will jump in with some neat ideas! Good luck with this fundraiser! Nance

I got lots of great tissue paper from the dollar store when I bought some glasses there. I saved that and wrap my soap in it once it has fully cured. Just use a glue stick instead of tape and wrap like a present. Also craft stores have these nifty plastic bags that are the perfect size for soap. If you are going to be out in the weather- you should use these! The worst day selling soap for me was the day I got rained on!

Horse, what a wonderful thing you are doing. Great ideas for wrapping the soaps too.

My prayers are for our troops. Our son is a SeaBee in the Navy and was over in Iraq last year. He's deployed in another dangerous part of the world. He called yesterday but he can not tell wheres he's at or tell any info over the phone or e-m or letters :(. We get sooooo excited when he gets to call. But where he has to go he may not get to call for some time. I have my cell phone glued on me.

Prayers for the safety of your sons troop and all the men and women who serve to keep us safe, May God Bless.

Laura,
I jusp rip strips of old looking cloth, and clean up the edges slightly and then tye the fabric strip around the bar and tye in a knot with short tails. That way I can still see the bar and smell the soap, display it on a pretty plate on the counter country living style, I don't feel like I am describing this very well. I use primitive looking fabric, a green plaid. I have even tea over dyed to get the old look. You have already received some many cute ideas...I am going to try myself! Good Luck with your fund raiser!!

Aunt George, I would love to buy some of that fabric. Thanks soo much gals, you all are awesome. What some great ideas!! We had our meeting yesterday about the fund raisers. When I told that all the profits from my soap would be going to the Amory, some of those gals looked at me like I had a second head. Guess one reason is cause I had on overalls and boots.lol This group of gals are real and I mean real young. I'm the oldest one there. This group is made up of wives of the soliders and here I am the Mother of one.lol Some of them are so clueless on what it takes to do fund raisers. For example, we are having a golf game Sept 26 and selling plates for lunch. I asked what was the menu and they answered, what ever is donated.?!! See? And they look at me like I fell of Mars?!!
