My favorite song right now is - Upside Down by Jack Johnson. I love the lyrics. "Who's to say what's impossible and can't be found. Gonna turn the whole world upside down....". It is from the Curious George sound track.

Favorite Motto to live by - "Life should not be a journey to the grave, with the intentions of arriving safely in an attractive, well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways with chocolate in one hand, a margarita in the other, body throughly used up, totally worn out and screaming WHOO HOO WHAT A RIDE!"

Favorite saying - "Over Younder" . My dad use to tell me to go "over younder" and I could find what ever he was sending me for. I am still trying to find younder

live well,
Tamara

The Desiderata
written by Max Ehrmann in the 1920s --
Not "Found in Old St. Paul's Church"!

Go placidly amid the noise and the haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.

As far as possible, without surrender,
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even to the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons;
they are vexatious to the spirit.

If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain or bitter,
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.

Exercise caution in your business affairs,
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals,
and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love,
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment,
it is as perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.

Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be.
And whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life,
keep peace in your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.

Will Scripture be OK?

If so, ...
Romans 8:28
"All we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them that are the called according to His purpose."
KJV

My favorite saying is;
~~~Use it up
~~~Wear it out
~~~Make it do
~~~Or do Without....

Terri - great words and thoughts.

In fact, I was inspired by all the recent posts on this thread. I needed to be uplifted today, and thank you all for writing and posting such hopeful words.

I have 3 little ones 3 and under....so most days my house looks a bit less than perfect!!! For this stage in my life the following is my favorite poem, constantly reminding me that someday I'll have a perfectly clean home, but I won't have a little one to hold.

Cleaning and scrubbing can wait till tomorrow
For babies grow up we've learned to our sorrow.
So quiet down cobwebs. Dust, go to sleep
I'm rocking my baby, and babies don't keep

I was listening to a Trisha Yearwood interview, and she quoted the lyrics to a song she had recently cut and I loved it. She has such an awesome voice...what a great singer!

If I could write a song to bring you back to me,
It would be the only song I'd sing.

These are 2 of my favorites...

One of our favorites...Elizabeth Barrett Browning

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight
For the ends of being and ideal grace.
I love thee to the level of every day's
Most quiet need, by sun and candle-light.
I love thee freely, as men strive for right.
I love thee purely, as they turn from praise.
I love thee with the passion put to use
In my old griefs, and with my childhood's faith.
I love thee with a love I seemed to lose
With my lost saints. I love thee with the breath,
Smiles, tears, of all my life; and, if God choose,
I shall but love thee better after death.

Amen.

To See a World In a grain of Sand
and a Heaven in a wildflower,
To hold infinity in the palm of your hand
and eternity in an hour...

William Blake

My Favorite,
My hubby and I used it in our vows when we eloped!
