Jimmy received a parrot for Christmas. The parrot was fully grown, with a very bad attitude and worse vocabulary.
Every other word was an expletive; those that weren't expletives were, to say the least, rude. Jimmy tried to change the bird's attitude by constantly saying polite words, playing soft music... anything he could think of. Nothing worked.
He yelled at the bird, and the bird got worse. He shook the bird, and the bird got madder and more rude.
Finally, in a moment of desperation, Jimmy put the parrot in the freezer. For a few moments he heard the bird swearing, squawking, kicking and screaming and then, suddenly, there was absolute quiet.
Jimmy was frightened that he might have actually hurt the bird, and quickly opened the freezer door.
The parrot calmly stepped out onto Jimmy's extended arm and said, "I'm sorry that I offended you with my language and my actions, and I ask your forgiveness. I will endeavor to correct my behavior".
Jimmy was astounded at the changes in the bird's attitude and was about to ask what had changed him, when the parrot continued, "May I ask what the Chicken did?"

| that is really cute!!! the "parrot" reminds me of a true story about a bird...cock-a-too-----my neighbor (in florida) had this bird, it had been her husbands when she married him. anyway, joe, her husband, died and lea was left with this bird. for thanksgiving she went to her sister's in south carolina, and while she was away, she left Doo-doo with a pet shop that specialized in birds. they called her like the day before thanksgiving up in south carolina and told her doo-doo looks bad...what should we do? she asked them to call her vet, who also specialized in birds and take him there. they did.....next she gets a call---doo-doo died. because he had been at a pet store less than 24 hours prior to dying, they had to do an autopsy which would be $850.00. lea wasn't thrilled but said okay. later they called her and said she'd have to come right away and get the dead bird out of there because it was a long weekend. she said she was up in south carolina and couldn't. so...they said they could cremate him for $200. the receptionist/girl then went on to tell lea that for a little more $$, they could pull feathers from his body and some bones and make a nice necklace that she could wear to have constant reminder of doo-doo. lea said thank heaven she couldn't see my face!! lea informed her that it was getting expensive, couldn't she do anything else? well, yeah, for $50 they could cremate him with another parakeet they had there! |

Thanks for sharing this. This is just what I needed to start my day. I always look so forwards to reading your posts. I lived in Tennessee for quite a few years a while back. I only went to KY once. But boy did I fall in love. The meadows, the horses, the farms...

oh sue! truth is often stranger (and usually funnier) than fiction! thanks for the giggle. and by the way .. i 'bird sat' for a friend years ago .. she had a cocaktoo .. i swear .. she came home to a 'dead bird' .. i think i forgot to give him food or water or sumpthin'!!! i did NOT offer to cremate him or make him into jewelry though! (i did offer to pay for him .. she was a good friend and laughed and said i had done what she had threatened to do with the "dam" bird for years .. he was a BITER!
o.k. o.k. .. for all the bird-lovers out there .. i didn't reeeeeeeeeeeeely forget to feed/water him .. i suspect my friend slipped him a little cyanide in his treats she left .. so she would have an alibi when the 'bird-a-cide' occurred!
o.k. o.k. ... that's not true either .. i think he was jus' olde and fell offa' his perch!
