Hey girls, take a look at my new dining room hutch which I have been searching for forever! I looked all over and found this locally and for a great price (once I got "real" after seeing the prices shopping I did raise the bar a bit). It's on my blog because I still haven't setup a photobucket account...I can't keep track of all of the accounts I have as it is!

Thanks Diana....and yes, Sterling is quite the picture of summer cool. While we were gone our farm sitter saw Sterling and cracked up. She had never seen him sheared before and said she about fell over when she saw him! He certainly is happier in this heat we're having. He's got a few holes dug so deep that I can't find him and he'll come crawling out. Now some lambs get in the holes and lay and he will stand over them until they get out so he can take over. Farm antics are fun to watch.

Frannie, it's like Christmas in August for me. I enjoy lots of color so the red is really fun. I can see you're a color girl too!

Hi Jami,

Your new hutch is perfect. From the primitive color to the punched tin sides --- it's a keeper.

You are going to have fun this holiday season adding decorations for Fall, Halloween and Winter to your new treasure.

I change out swags over the top of china closet using materials from Dollar Store & gleaned from other sources. Winter has a realistic pine bough swag with mini twinkle lights, and tucked in snowman and snowflake ornaments over the hutch top. Works the same for Fall with a garland of vines & leaves. Right now, with summer, it's honeysuckle vine, wheat sheafs and sunflowers.

Checked out your blog. The clothespin bag is such a good idea --- expecially using the skirt hanger to secure the bag to the line for easy moving. Great choice of fabric, too.

Your hutch is so pretty. The thing I really love is that tin. I have never seem one like that before. Sterling is a beauty. sheared or not. They are such noble looking dogs and so lovable.

Oh thank you MJ...isn't it funny how a certain quaint feature will just make you go ahhh? That's what I did when I saw it in the store too! I about knocked everything in my way over running to look at the price of it! I'm a bit obsessive when I'm on a "hunt."

I love the ideas about the swags on the top and changing out the seasons with the hutch...I have a tendency to get stuck in a rut when it comes to decorating...same 'ol, same 'ol, so I'll remember your suggestions.

Jami- That is a very nice find!! I loev the green interior. :) You know, I did the same as you when my son moved out- took over his bedroom and made myself a craft room. It is my favorite place to be now. Much better than when it was covered in dirty clothes.

Well, Karin, you made me smile. I have a lot of friends who have kid "shrine" rooms in their houses...not me girlfriend! The day he moved out (final time) I was painting that room before he hit the end of our driveway...don't let the gate hit you in the rear scenario! It's not that I don't love that kid to pieces or want him to visit (we have a guest room) but I raised my little fledglings to fly and experience a full life of their own and besides, that kid had the best room in the house! A walk-in closet and plenty of room...well, there is never enough room when one is creating, but it's sure my favorite room in the house now!

I love it. I am glad you found it fairly close to home. I like the Thorpe fruit and antiques. I always wondered if they were 'antique fruits'. I even like the town of Thorpe. I used to buy onion sets (when I was a buyer for a greenhouse) from a huge store that was there--its gone now. I went back there Tuesday and it's gone and the collectible store is empty--by the way most of the town is empty- SAD!! MB

Marybeth, it's true that Thorpe is in a slump. I too loved that little store...was it called Rill Foods or Mercantile? They had a lunch counter in there too and good burgers. We used to get food there when my son would play ball against Thorpe.

Funny, antique fruits! Must be dried up shriveled ones? Seriously, I didn't realize there are 2 stories above the fruit floor of nothing but antiques and collectibles and they have a good variety and some are great prices and others are rather high. I've been there before but for some reason I thought it was kind of junky then. Now I'm all over it like bears to honey.

Rene, it would be a great place for MJ's magazine and maybe more? Sure is a busy busy place this time of year.
