Hello girls, I wanted to tell you about my part time(so far) work. After reading and talking about tea & tea parties I decided to go back & really give it a try. I did parties for kids & women as gifts but NOW I'm turning it into a business. I have been studing tea for a couple of years with my herbs. First thing I am doing is going through my inventory, I have tons of tea related things. I am focusing on 4 themes for now for kids and I will have a party booked for Nov. I'm starting slow. By springtime I hope to give a mothers day tea along with a few others. I also spoke w/ a guy who runs farmers markets and in spring, I'll be selling loose leaf teas, tea products and organic teas. I know exactly how I'll display them. I want to make & sell tea cakes &scones but that involves the health dept. Im not ready for that YET but I've been baking those for years. I do hope to have a tea shop with a small tea bar someday. Anyway, I am very exceited. Just wanted to share. Michele

Michele, it sounds lovely! I've never had the privilege of taking tea in a tea shop... but one of these days a few of my friends and I will as we found out about one not too many miles away. And if you were selling tea and things at our local farmer's market, I'd be right there shopping! I wish for you the best in your new venture. - Colette

Enjoy the good things in life - especially when there is time for tea!

Good on you! I have always dreamed of having a tea shop when the last of the chicks have left the nest, which will only be a few more years. AAAAAAAAA! Anyway, keep us posted as things go along. I love tea time!

Oh Michele, good for you. As a confirmed tea drinker and giver of a few teas, I wish you all the best. There is a real need for such events. Women need a place to enjoy each other company. Hope all your dreams come true.
There is a tea shop about 40 miles from here, it is our special day out destination. When we have out of town women guests, we always try to go there. This place is in between my sister's house and mine. Some time during the holidays we try to have lunch there. They have wonderful sandwiches, quiches, soups, salads and teas. They also have an extensive gift selection, and some antiques. Last year they were almost fully booked when my sister and I went for lunch. They apologized for seating us in a backroom. The room had been a bedroom in the old house they have converted to the tea room. This room we were in, had 2 small tables and was decorated like a ladies dressing room. There were old hats and cloaks, and mirrors, and jewelry and fancy evening clothes. No one else was in the room. We spent 3 hours just catching up and drinking pot after pot of tea. It was one of our best times ever.

Greetings from the morning side of the hill.

Michele,

Not sure what's up in your state, but when states require a certified kitchen for baked goods, and farmers don't want to put a certified kitchen in their home, yet, they rent out churches on Saturdays or schools on weekends (both usually have certified kitchens). Sometimes the cost is minimal or nothing at all.

Barb, I'm in the middle of all that now. Not quite sure howI'm doing it but, I am getting ready for the spring now. Selling teas at flea markets w/ pots, cups & other tea related things. I cant sell food without a cert. from the health dept. but im trying to work around that also. I make tea cakes that are really good & breads. Nothing but natural & organic ingedients go onto them. Im selling organic tea w/ the other teas also. I had to get a resale liscense for that. It will all come together. This Jersey girl doesn't give up. Just alot going on. Thanks for the tip, I will look into it. Michele
