Which is a praise but recovery in the beginning is hard on all involved. And we are in the middle of a move. If you get a moment could you pray for me- I am the peace maker in my home right now- I could use a lot of strength!

Blessings, Debra

Hi Debra

Within, you are going to rise up with strength to get through this tough time.

You are the caretaker emotionally, spiritually and physically for your family's well being.

During this time, please find the time to nourish yourself.

Even the most little of comforts will make a difference.

Be good to yourself first --- always. Hard for us mothers and wives to do, but it's essential right now.

I have been on a similar path several times to what you are on now. Please know that when you are not alone. A lot of your fellow sisters are praying for you --- and in our thoughts every day.

Prayers are being said for your husband, too. It takes a lot of determination to beat this. One minute, one hour, one day at a time.

You can do this, Debra. Tie your apron to our Farmgirls apron strings. Together we can pull through the rough patches.

I SO agree with Aunt Clemys!! I have been the sole caregiver to my mom for at least the last 6 years of her life. She had severe aggressive Dementia. It was SO hard. She could not be left alone for 1 second, literally! SO I never had a second for myself, no help, no nothing. That is one of the reasons I am now in the middle of a bad depression.

SO please, take a time out whenever you can take one, only if it is for 15 mins at the time.

Read a magazine, start a new project, take a stroll in your area, take a hot bath, pamper yourself, whatever. But take very good care of yourself first, otherwise you can't take care of your family properly!

And pray. Prayer helps tremendously. I wish someone had said that to me at the time....

Prayers, love and hugs from Marian/Dutchy
PS, kudos to your hubby too, bet that is not easy for him either!!
Staying sober I mean.

I can relate to what you're going through but I sense you are a totally strong woman. That doesn't mean that you don't need uplifting and prayers because you most certainly do! And you have mine for the long road ahead. But anything worth having is worth fighting for, right? And it will be a fight to keep your dh sober. He doesn't mean much of what is coming out of his mouth right now but I know it still hurts. Blessings to you always. With love, hugs, and prayers, Susan

I am glad I noticed this topic. Thanks for coming to us for support! I agree with the suggestions to work extra hard at taking special care of yourself. It is not easy to be the peacemaker.
Are you involved with Alanon? It's the best! There is one listed in any phonebook in any town, and of course they have a great website. Get to know women who have been through it, they are there to help you.
luv and hugs,
Linda

Debra congratulations to you both for taking this huge first step together...I am proud of you as caregiver and peacemaker for all that you've gone through and all that you will go through. You always have us here to turn to for comfort and strength...take the time to be good to yourself too!

I'm proud of your husband for making it this far, and pray that he can stay sober for all of you.
Many blessings

Dera, I am so glad to see your husband is 2 months into sobriety. It is a hard battle for him and you, I know there is alot of pressure on you right now, but remember sweetie, no one can keep him sober but himself. Your support and love will be a pilar of strength for him. It truly is one minute one hour one day at a time. Just make sure you take care of your own needs as well. Alanon is a wonderful help to families and friends,it helps you not feel alone and others share how they cope and stay
sane through the good and the rough times. I pray God blesses you with happiness and serenity for both yourself and your husband.
