What homemade treats do you make for Halloween? I remember orange popcorn balls (a bit of food coloring in the syrup), caramel apples, decorated cookies. Check out these 'Eyeball Cupcakes' on Epicurious www.epicurious.com/features/entertaining/halloween/recipes/232942 Clever decorating!
Sometimes I make an "orange" meal - macaroni and cheese, or pizza and punch with orange sherbet and 7up. Not my usual standard for good, healthy dinner! We usually make smores in the outdoor fireplace that night.
For supper on Halloween we usually have "beanies and halloweenies". My kids think I am so weird!! I will be making caramel apples for special trick or treaters for sure..and sometimews we do carmel corn. I will make cookies and do a punch in a plastic "cauldron" with dry ice for my son's shcool party. I am his room mom this year. That is always a big hit.

I have made lolipop ghosts for my daughter's class since she was in kindergarten. She'a now 19 and fondly remembers them. Wrap a tootsie pop or blow pop with a tissue or two. Secure with a black or orange ribbon. The kids loved these.
I make little gingerbread heart cakes ( along with store bought popcorn balls) - It's usually the Moms who bring their kids to the door and ask for them! Been doing it for 3 years and make more every year.........
Not "healthy" but... my son's pre-school Halloween party was today and we brought marshmallows that we dipped in orange candy coating (Wilton sells this as candy-melts) and used miniature chocolate chips to create jack-o-lantern faces.
I used to work with someone who told me that she wraps up some cans of veggies and adds to the candy bowl - the greediest trick-or-treaters would take the BIG thing - they got tricked!
Enjoy the good things in life - especially when there is time for tea!
