AS A YOUNG GIRL I GREW UP IN THE CITY, BE IT A SMALL CITY, BUT I WAS THERE ANYWAY. I WAS NEVER CONTENT. 2 YEARS AGO I RESCUED A HORSE AND AM HAVING TO BOARD HER. SHE IS DOING FINE, BUT THE TIME I GET TO SPEND WITH HER IS VERY LIMITED. I WORK FULL TIME & GO TO SCHOOL PART TIME, BUT I AM A WANT TO BE FARM GIRL ALL THE TIME. WE ARE LOOKING FOR A FARM HOUSE WITH LAND, BUT THE SEARCH SEEMS NEVER ENDING. ALTHOUGH IT SEEMS, I AM CONSUMED BY NEGATIVITY, I AM QUITE THE CONTRARY. I BELEIVE THAT ALL THINGS WORTH HAVING ARE WORTH WORKING FOR. THAT IS WHY I JOINED THE CLUB, FOR SUPPORRT, INCOURAGEMENT, GUIDENCE, AND A FEW HELPFUL HINTS, ON HOW TO GET THERE. I LOOK FORWARD TO BEING A PART OF A GROWING SISTERHOOD. THANKS FOR HAVING ME.

You've got support here, Lynn, by the bushel - make that the truckload. You will find a way to get your farm. And when it happens it will seem like everything just fell in place. That's because of all the diligence you're putting toward it now. It's like an iceberg - we see 10%, the other 90% is under water. You're dealing with the supporting 90% now. I can't wait til the day we can celebrate with you when your dream comes true.

God bless -
Karen

Welcome Lynn! Glad to have you here with us. I too am hoping to get a place in the country someday. Being a real estate agent, I scour MLS every day for property! Of course I've found some beautiful places, but right now it's not financially feasible to buy any of them. What I've done is to print off pictures of the ones I like best so that it inspire me to save up money for a dream farm ;)

Welcome to the Farm Lynn! I know you will find the perfect place soon! You should look into the USDA Rural Development program. They can help you find and buy up to 5 acres with or without a house! If it is without a house they can help you buy or build a house to put on it!

Hi Lynn and welcome. Don't ever give up. I am from the country but have lived in town since I got married (33 yrs ago). I have been trying to get back to the country but for some reason it hasn't happened. But the good news is I am working on getting a small cabin (just one room) to put on a piece of land that I grew up on.
Hang in there and it will happen.

Good luck and stay positive.

Hi Lynn! Welcome to our forum - we're very glad to meet you! Just a quick note about using caps - we would really like everyone on our forum to use upper and lower case when you're typing both your titles and your messages. Caps are hard to read in big chunks and have the feeling of "shouting" when used on the web. We will sometimes use caps for our titles that we want you to notice, and would like to reserve the use of caps for those things alone.

Thanks so much!
Carol

hi lynn .. welcome! hey honey .. try looking for a farm in kentucky if you can. land is so inexpensive here compared to so much of the rest of the country. jobs aren't plentiful .. that's for sure .. at least that is what i hear constantly .. but if there is something you can 'do from home' .. or perhaps if you are in the health industry .. or maybe a teacher ... but i know women waiting in line for those jobs too.

someday .. you will truly realize your dream.

i do hope you will stay here on the forum and keep joining in on conversations that you find of interest to you. xo

Hi Lynne

Do't give up...keep your vision before you...one step at a time. I also was born, raised and spent most of my life inthe city, yearning to live in the country. I am finally here on my little farmette....it is worth it. Frannie is right about land here. It is very affordable and if you are willing to rehab an old house all the better. Love and faith....

Lynne I agree with Luna. I was a city girl, well a town girl, there are no real big cities in Wyoming, but I always knew I was really a farm/ranch girl. Sometimes I get discouraged, but you have to just keep your dream alive. Keep it fueled, subscribe to homesteader magazines and great forums like this one. You'll get there. Farmgirls always persevere.
Warmly,
Teresa Sue
