My aunt is 5 months pregnant with her fifth son. She was hospitalized last week because her water broke...at 22 weeks. Right now she is in a high-risk facility, and they are trying to postpone her labor until at least week 25. If she goes into labor before then, they (my aunt and uncle) will have to decide if they want to try to keep the baby alive. There will be a chance of it having disabilities if it is born before 25 weeks. Tara (my aunt) is 26, and this is her 5th son in less than 7 years.

Kayla, I'm very sorry--it is so difficult when it's a little one that might suffer, isn't it? I'm hoping and praying for the best.

Oh Kayla! I am so sorry to hear of the difficulties your aunt and the baby are having. I hope that everything works out and the baby is able to stay in for as long as he can! Is there any possibility of the pregnancy going past 25 weeks?

The doctor will try to keep her going as long as possible....hopefully full term. I think they are just trying to get her past 25 weeks right now. And then when she is past 25, they won't worry so much about stalling things. I talked to her today and she said everything was fine....she is already tired of laying there! She said she was going to weigh 190 before this thing was over, because all she could do is eat! She weighed 97 when she got married 7 years ago! They are constantly monitoring the baby and if he is any kind of distress, they will either induce or do a C-section...she wasn't really sure.
