Hello everyone. I just signed up today, but have enjoyed visiting MJ's Farm for awhile now. I live on 7 acres adjoining my parents' Century Farm in NW Tennessee. I have three wonderful daughters, and it still surprises me when I realize how old they are--22, 20, and 16. I have horses, dogs, and one sweet donkey. My dream is to raise a mule or two someday and have a few hens for farm eggs. I love to grow iris, stitch, scrapbook, and make vintage china mosaics. I am trying to figure out how to live my life now that my own little birds are leaving the nest. Would love to hear from other mamas who have been there, survived, and thrived. Hope all of you have a great evening. Linda |

Linda, Welcome to the farm. I am so glad you are here. Yes, I am an empty nester and enjoying it. We have been for the last 5 years, you start discovering what you like and new adventures. It has been fun. It is a major shift after all the years of caring for your family but a good one. Enjoy the process.

Welcome Linda! I'm an almost empty nester. I have one grown son left at home (he's 23), but of course between work and his social life we don't see him much...LOL!
Carol Sue is right, once the kiddos are all grown and gone, you finally get to start new adventures and actually get to do the things that you enjoy doing.
And of course there's the bonus of becoming a grandma :) I have 2 grandsweeties that I love to spoil rotten!

hello Linda, you are going to fit right in here, so pull up your chair and sit a while...it's amazing how one thinks an empty nest is a bad thing, but really it's just another season to watch our kids that we raised to become independent do just that. you will be ok and find your balance...Debbie

Hi Linda!
I'm also a Tennessee gal. I'm new to this forum as of today. We live on opposite sides of the state though. It's been a long while since I've been out your way but the area is beautiful. I'm about 18 miles north-east of Knoxville. Smoky Mountain area. Do you know of any other Tennessee gals out there? I'm just now starting to surf the forums so I'm sure I'll find more. So far I know I'm going to love it here. |

Hi Andrea, So good to meet you! No, I don't know of any other TN girls yet, though I have seen several from Kentucky. East Tennessee is just so beautiful. I just love visiting MJ's Farm too...I am still such a beginner, but I went ahead and joined the sisterhood, and got the neatest little welcome package. Hope to talk more with you soon. Welcome from another newbie! Linda |

Welcome Linda, I'm an empty nester too. It's a different time in your life, that's for sure. Sometimes it's kinda sad, but then you realize that you are now able to be just you. You aren't responsible to raise children anymore and your time is more yours. It opens up a whole new world. Especially if you are like me, I was the oldest child and took care of my little brothers and then I had my first child when I was 18. I took care of children my whole life, now I can take care of me. It is pretty exciting when you think about the possiblities. I'm sure we'll have lots to talk about, Warmly, Teresa Sue
