Hello Everyone,

While I registered back in March, I have had not introduced myself or even taken much time to look around until today. I really think I will enjoy myself on this forum.

I am 45 years old, married to my high school sweetheart. We share our home with 4 dogs, and a bunch of fish. (I miss the cats.) When I'm not working, I'm in my garden, fusing glass, crafting, weaving, painting, and fundraising for animal rescue groups.

I choose my user name since I am the grandaughter of a dairy farmer (also the daughter of a veterinarian). My Mom has often said I was born a farm girl while my sister, a city girl.

Welcome, Sue, from one newbie to another! It sounds like you'll fit right in. What is "fusing glass?"

God bless -

Welcome, Sue! Glad you are here. Our land backs up to a dairy farm, and I see the children all the time helping out and playing among all the holsteins. Did you help your grandfather with his business at all?

Welcome, Sue. After I married I became a dairy farm girl. My mother-in-law and I were in charge of the night milking. There was 1 cow that most always gave us trouble--so guess what--we would run her on through!!!!! Luckily we never got caught.

Thank you all for the warm welcome.
Heather, I am in Prospect, which is in the Waterbury area.

Handyam, Dad had his family a bit later than most, so my grandfather was mostly retired during my remembered time with them. My parents property bordered the farm, where my grandfather rented his land to other farmers, so Holsteins were always near. The first 8 years of my life (before my only sibling was born) I went around with my veterinarian father while he treated dairy cows in our area. It was a big dairy farm area at that time. So while I never actually helped my grandfather, I sure experienced a lot at the other farms.

Karen, Fusing glass is a craft which is kinda popular at the moment. You cut a few pieces of compatible glass, throw them in a kiln, heat and cool correctly, and they will melt together. I have a tiny kiln and make glass pendants/earrings and sell at dog shows, online, craft shops. Why dog shows?...mostly I do dog themed designs. I'll add my blog to my signature soon and you can see my creations.
Thanks again. Hugs to your pets, Sue

Hi Sue:
Welcome to the Farmgirl Connection. I was 39 years young when I got my first cat. I can't believe I missed all those years without having a cat. What a shame for me!!!!! LOL Take care. Have a great and happy day!
