hello everyone...
I am looking for hankies that are old and pretty to put together as a bed spread for my mother. I will look at anything though so keep sending me links or pictures of you hankies!

Thanks I am excited to see what you have!

Oh boy Angela, I hope someone is willing to part with some for you! I've been collecting all I can find at the local thrift shop I'm lookin' to make a quilt too. Good luck :D

I know of a few at a local shop. They are quite simple, crochet/lace around the border. Will that work with your quilt plans? The centers are plain white. I'll see if I can take some pictures next week when it is open and see if they can find a home with you if you are interested.

We make a difference.

Thanks ladies for responding. The hankies I am now going to make into pillow cases as I just cannot find enough. What I did do is go into a antique store this weekend and I found 70 crochet doiles, large ones small ones and a big one for the center of my quilt. They are quite old and I will have to hand sow them but it should be lovely when its done. SO try that direction for your quilts. sow it onto a douvet cover so you can change the thickness from winter to spring. I have found all kinds of colors and textures that I can sow them onto. let me know what you all do!

Ladies, there is a small shop in a nearby town, he goes to estate sales and buys up everything. My daughter noticed a large brown box of old hankies, some plain, some prints, all old. We thought about asking if he would sell the whole box to us. I think he wants $1.00 apiece...is that too high? Or are you seeking the fancy needlework hankies?

You might want to take a peek on Ebay.com to see if anyone has vintage hankies on there.

definitely ebay. sometimes you can get a very large lot and it will work out to not so much so each hankie. I've done this before. I have a pattern I got online a long time ago showing how to make a quilt top using the hankies. Haven't enough yet to start one yet.
