This is the Anne series in order:
Anne of Green Gables Anne of Avonlea Anne of the Island Anne of Windy Poplars Anne's House of Dreams Anne of Ingleside Rainbow Valley Rilla of Ingleside
Then there's the Emily Series: Emily of New Moon Emily Climbs Emily's Quest
And the two Story Girl books: The Story Girl The Golden Road
Anything else by LM Montgomery is mostly a single, one time book. I would recommend Jane of Lantern Hill. Of the Anne books, I think the first 5 are really worth reading. The later ones are kind of blah, in my opinion. I almost like the Emily books better than the Anne books (gasp!!) I haven't read the new "prequel" Anne book yet, but Nancy Jo said it was good also. I hope you like the originals as much as the new interpretation! |

Yes I can't say enough about the new Anne book,"BEFORE GREEN GABLES". This book on its own without ever knowing about the others is a keeper. NANCY JO

Oh I haven't read these books since Iwas a girl! I will have to keep these in mind and get them for my dd when she is old enough to enjoy them. I do remember that after the first 4 or 5 like you said Amie, they lost interest for me. But then again I was in JH so who knows! But thanks for the list!

Josie, I don't know if you've run into Mellaisbella on any threads, but she actually lives on PE Island. She's the go-to girl for anything Anne. |
