I collect:
elephants - I've loved them since I was a child. They just seem so gentle to me.
tea cups & saucers - not many, they have to be special. I started after my Great Aunt died and found her tea cup with Sept. on it and realized we shared a birthday.
Crystal snack plates & tea cups. (don't know what they're called) Went to a tea party at a historical society and fell in love with them there. Had to have a set for home tea parties. The obsession started.
Pretty rocks. No real reason.
Insulators. Found some at a garage sale while on vacation in California. I just think they're neat and unusual. My Dad adds to my collection at Christmas time. They look cool sitting on my entertainment center.
Embroidery materials (which I better stop doing) I just like having different materials to do. I like scouring resale shop for vintage patterns. It's more of the hunt I think than anything.
Hmmm.... I think that's it.
Unmatched socks.....but I think my collection is complete. I don't purposely seek this collection out. |

Oh this sounds like fun, and a little like homework.....gotta put the thinking cap on to whittle down and define the list!! Watering cans, and old gardening hand tools because I like what they represent to me. Old postcards with floral, Christmas or bird themes. Old books on nature, gardening, flowers.. Old clay flower pots. Sweet little birds made from clay or porcelain or resin, cement or whatever. Lacy doilies; embroidered doilies and dresser scarves. Interesting old baskets. Old floral china. Yee haa! That makes ten. Can't wait to see what everbody else drools over.
I think I am drawn to these things because they represent a gentle, tranquil, pleasantly industrious, home-based life. When I surround myself with these things, that is how it makes me feel; a little like going to visit my grandmothers who I loved dearly.
PS. My goodness, you gals are up early!!!! |

ok here is where I come out of my closet. I dont collect much of anything. I used to buy fabric, lots and lots of fabric as I am a quilter and sewer. Then I decided that I needed to exercise some restraint and use up what I had. I love to read so I will buy books but I also donate many of them away as my space is limited. So if I collect anything, heres my list: fabric books dust bunnies dog hair tracked in dirt bills recipie ideas laundry dishes, unwashed toys in on bedroom floors These are the things that I have the most of in my home. |

Hey, Marly. I've got some left over yarn that I tried using to weave a baby blanket. It's pink, yellow, light green and white. Do you need it for your homeless project? If you do, email me and send me your address. I'd love to contribute to your project!

Ten...wow...lets see...
1. Willow Tree Angels...I love how they are so simple yet beautiful. 2. Scrapbooking paper...I do a ton of paper crafting, so whenever I see any kind of paper that would work I'll snatch it up. I was so luck a month ago--a store went out of business and threw away 150 rolls of wrapping paper, for each of the holidays. 3. Cookie cutters...love to use them at Christmas time. 4. Frank Sinatra...nuff said. 5. Shells...I have some from every place we have gone...fresh or salt water...I call them my memory stones, and when I have enough, I want to make a frame for my huge bathroom mirror. 6. Recipes...I have 3 boxes full and now 118 cookbooks. 7. Wizard of Oz stuff...I have the entire cast of dolls in so many different ways, posters, slippers, I have even branched out to the broadway play "Wicked". I also have one of the original prints of both books. 8. Cookie tins...Each year I scavenge for them, and then at Christmas I fill them with goodies and give em away. 9. Shoes!!!! 10. That's all I can really think of right now!

i'm thinking what i 'might' do is this .. i'll post things i have and you can 'pick and choose' .. and just send me the postage to get it to you! how's that sound?
i'll surely need some 'time' on this one .. cuz' ya'll KNOW how slow i am at gittin' stuff wrapped, packed up and to the postie! (but i doooooooo try to put in some little extras each time though!) xo

Julie: How kind of you! I just collect yarn from garage sales or other friends who have given up on knitting or crocheting. Do you have a baby or babies? If so, let me know, I'll crochet your yarn into a blanket for the babies. I'll check the postings later. You are too sweet. Most Louisianians are sweet and kind people, I'm sure you'd agree. Marly |

Hey, Marly: Nope. No babies! I just thought this yarn would work for a baby blanket for a friend, and come to find out, it's too stretchy for a loom. So, consequently, it's extra yarn that I won't use for anything else (you REALLY don't want me to crochet with it -- tried that, created a disaster!, and I don't know how to knit -- yet.) So, the yarn is up for grabs. If you want it, email me with your address and I'll ship it to you. You are too sweet to offer to crochet a blanket for me, though. I really appreciate it! Aren't farmgirls wonderful?!?!?!?!
