I walked out my front door yesterday and thought I was being attacked! There is July flies flying everywhere. I dont know if I have ever seen so many. I almost looks like a swarm of them if the have swarms. Is there any old wise tales about them that anyone knows? Id love to hear some of them. Karen

Are July flies and horse flies related, or are they the same thing? We have horse flies that bite the daylights out of me.

Alee, That is so funny because I also thought this post was going to be about how fast the month of July flies by!

Karen, unfortunately I don't know any tales about July flies. Sorry.

Have a wonderful day!

Thanks for the picture of the June/July bug. I've seen those here in Louisiana. We call them bomber bugs, because at night they fly at you like bombs.

Karen those are june bugs, when I was little my bros and I would tie a string around the groove in the upper back and fly them around, now that is one way we had of entertaining ourselves

Our June bugs are a brown color not green. Must be a different species of them. They sure sound the same with those sticky legs. I thought you were talking about the house flies, there are awful here right now. Ususally it seems they come later but they are here now bigtime!!

Ours are brown too. They do cling on everything - especially the screen door!

My mom said the same thing about playing with them. Well I guess you had to play with something. I think Ida found something a little less clingy. Karen
