I don't know if there's been another posting about this, but I made my own which is TONS cheaper than the name brand you buy in the store. I worked on it a bit (TRIAL AND ERROR!) but I have it figured out, and hope it could work for you girls! I used:

1 cup of rice to 4 cups of water.
I used brown, but can also use white.
Cook it on the stove -
don't do what I did and make it in the rice cooker. LOL.
When rice is soft, throw it ALL in a blender.
Blend well and throw in some vanilla extract.
I also put in a little brown sugar ..
(I'm going to try stevia next time.)
Blend again ...
I also threw in a handful of almonds
(but I don't think I will do that again..)
Let it sit overnight (at least)
and then strain into pitcher with CHEESE CLOTH...
(I got mine for $1.50 at Wal-mart in the craft section..)
Squeeze out excess and ENJOY....
This was VERY cheap to make!

You're welcome! I was worried it was going to be too thin but it worked out! And it was just as good as the Rice Dream or other brands, imo. Make sure the rice is very soft, and hot when you put it in the blender. That helps. I meant to note that.

This sounds delicious! Thanks so much for the recipe-I need to try it! I just came home from 6 weeks in Mexico and they have so muh Horchata there...which is rice water. I love it! Your recipe in particular sounds amazing. Thanks!

I've read that you can use the excess rice sediment for goats or chickens or cow feed (mixing it in) or something like that .. I have to waste mine right now.. though I am thinking it would be good in compost...but it sure would be nice to do SOMEthing with it ..to be useful...wouldn't it ...
