Ok, this might get sad but really, I am ok with it. I wish my Nanna and Papa were around longer. They died right when I hit 13 and our whole family fell apart. I was pretty much left to fend for myself and I believe my Mom became really depressed, it strained my parents marriage and I feel like I was forgotten in the shuffle. I also wish we had taken any kind of vacation and my parents to loosen up a little. My life was very strict, my father was constantly unhappy and my mother was a nervous wreck. I did take shelter in my cats, the outdoors, drawing, etc. I wish I had joined more things in school but I was painfull shy and not supported by my family, so I missed out on a lot of normal teenage/childhood things. Oh well!! I get to live my life now.

it's interesting .. because one of the questions i asked in another thread was about the differences between OUR generation and our parents. it seems that 'problems' are always there to be solved .. and hopes and dreams both realized and dashed. i once saw a beautiful film called: LIFE IS AN INSTANT REPLAY .. from the viewpoint of a 100 year old woman who had gone through quite a few 'generations' .. in the end .. you realized that our lives have a lot of parallels regardless of the era. interesting 'food for thought'. xo

I wouldn't change a thing. There was a lot of Bad Stuff with divorce that my parents are still very bitter about- but! It made me the way I am today. Without it I would never have done all that I did, or have met my best friend or my husband, or learned all those good lessons I can now use in my life.
However- if I had gone to that Les Miserables audition in grade 5, I think my life would now be completely different. I would have made the most perfect, waifiest Cosette there ever was :)

I would take my studies more seriously. I would have different friends and different jobs.

I would take my childhood more seriously... I kinda grew up too early and had kids at a very young age BUT I cant say I regret it as my kids are wonderful and my oldest is in his 2nd year in college (I will be 36 tomorrow).

I grew up in a severely dysfunctional and abusive home, so I wouldn't want to relive a second of it.

I would ask that my bio father not be killed when he was struck by lightning. I would love to have been raised around my relatives and not in the middle of nowhere around no one I knew. My relatives were wonderful people and I missed so much. Who knows, I might have married a farmer.

I would skip being 15 years old. Those terrible teen hormones made life more miserable than having a hot flash outside in the Gobi desert.

I would pick new parents. Seriously, I would NOT want to relive my childhood. It was not ME that needed to change, but the "grown-ups" who DIDN'T raise me! Thank goodness the Lord has taken any bitterness I might have had tword my parents. That's all I've got to say about THAT.
Although, I DO have to say, if I hadn't had the childhood that I DID have, I would not be the person I am today. I am happy with who I am and the life I am living. I'm happy that I'm NOT like my mother was, that I've kept my promises to myself in regards to raising my OWN children, and I'm living my OWN life and loving EVERY MINUTE OF IT!! I'm happy that I'm free of all bitterness and resentment that I COULD and that I am at peace. (Thank you God!) ~~ Tracy ~~

How would I like it to be different?? Hmm... Some things have no solution...therefore, no point in doing it over again.
But perhaps I would...for the sake of several people I know...took paths in life so different than we'd ever dreamed of, not good paths. To try maybe, to get them to re-think.... I don't know...

Ppphhh...nevermind. Guess it's like, boot camp isn't easy, but it makes ya tough. So I am who I am today, because of my childhood. I'm okay with that. :)

there is a lot I would not like to repeat.. sad stuff.. but I do wish I had spent more quality time with my sisters. I wish I had held onto more of my childhood treasures- I wrote tons of letters and received many in return.. I don't have any.
Blessings, Debra

I really loved my childhood! I have two younger sisters and a younger brother and we all grew up together and always played together and had a blast! I loved every moment of it. The only thing I think I would change is the fact that my mother was very overprotective of us growing up. I know she just wanted us safe, but it was too much. We had bikes but were never allowed to go ride them down the street or anything like that. Luckily my father was more lenient and wanted us to go explore and get a little scratched up..after all a little bit of that is good for kids.
