i was my daughters Brownie troop leader for 3 years and then she decided she was too old for that. Then a couple of months ago her and a few of her girlfriends decided they wanted to be able to do some girl scouting activities they had seen offered. So here I am again as leader of a bunch of homeschooled 14-16 yr. old girls. At least they are able to help organize it this time around. Plus, I get to instill a little wisdom and love of camping with them!

Oh the good old days of Brownie's and girl scouts! I was in it for years. But since I have 3 sons, I did the cub scout leader thing instead. Does anyone know if the girl scouts still make "Campfire Stew"? I would love the recipe. I've never been able to find it. Good luck on getting lots of fun ideas to do with the girls!
Laura, I was near your neck of the woods at Chicago Botanic Garden on Sunday. Homer Glen is 20 miles southwest of Chicago, just south of Lemont and north of Lockport. We go to CBG every couple of weeks, we're members there. By the way, is there anything else to do around the botanic garden? Any nearby beaches or forest preserves. I'd love to go swimming up there after visiting the garden.
We're members at the garden as well. But I have to say we haven't been that much this year. We stick to the beach & harbor up this way but it would be quite the drive from the gardens just for a swim or hike. Let me ask Ken when he comes home. He works down that way on Lake/Cook Road. Today is surely a beach day it is gettin' hot out there!!

I have a daughter who is a brownie and a daughter who just bridged over to a junior. I help the leaders as much as I can. Last week the girls attended an "Around the World in 4 Days" camp. Loved it.
We love the Lake Michigan beaches too - Hoffmaster has been our family favorite for years.
I wasn't in Girl Scouts as it wasn't really active growing up, but I did see that Dairy Queen has the Thin Mint Blizzards. One of my cousins was a Girl Scout back in the day with patches left and right. What are some of the patches they can earn now?
I have 5 boys (all have been in scouts and I have always seemed to be a leader..even now) and 2 girls..who arn't in scouts at all..other interests I guess. But I bet alot of the cubscout ideas would work for girls too.
