Chickens. They are always entertaining and I have learned some interesting lessons from watching them. Now, if I could figure out a way to sneak a dairy cow in my yard, I'd be a truly happy farmgirl. :)

we had arcauna chickens (laid blue and green-shell eggs) when we lived in colorado .. HATED the ROOSTER .. but the chicekns were fun. i also ADORED our little billy goat (TROLL)!
problems with critters is that they would have to eat each other when we travelled!

Gotta go with chickens. Although they aren't exactly my ultimate FAVORITE, if I could only have one, that's what I would choose. You can have meat and eggs on hand with one animal, and they don't eat a lot of feed; they are pretty rescourceful at scavanging. ;) Plus, they look silly when they run.

I really want some chicks! But, I am getting some here in about 2 months-hopefully! So, with that known, I would have to say sheep!

We have had about every kind of farm animal imaginable, but I want an alpaca. The first time I have a few thousand lying around, I am going to get one.
Other than that, hubby and the kids are my favorite.....well, the baby goats and their mamas come in pretty high on the list too!

Living in the suburbs, I haven't been able to have any true farm animals, but I did raise and show rabbits for 10 years. I too would love to have an alpaca. I visited an alpaca farm with friends from the yarn shop I frequent and fell in love with them.
Someday, if I can ever talk the hubby into moving to the country I'd love to have rabbits again, chickens, goats, alpacas, a horse, and a cow.

My cows....I am milking two right now, and we also have an 8 month old heifer. The cows are paying for themselves (earning enough money to pay for their feed) as well as Sabine's (heifer calf) feed, as well as providing milk for two bottle calves, as well as providing all of our (family of 6) dairy needs. They are also feeding the abandoned deer, but that really wasn't in the plan! I want to get another milk cow in the near future, because right now, I don't have any extra milk to make all the cheese I want to make. And after all is said and done, I think we will have a little extra cash from it all. We are "where the only thing you earn is what you spend!"

I would like horses and alpacas.

Horses hands down. They are the best.

we love our piggies! but we don't have them year around. We love all our animals but I would say bunnies! I love bunnies, they are soft and furry and they like to snuggle and they normally don't talk back.

Funny, I didn't think of my horses as farm animals--because the horses don't produce anything besides enjoyment...funny huh? Okay, my horses are first and then the sheep but it's a real close race. Then my herding dog and guard dogs...both working for their keep.

Dreaming...Paso Fino horses. I won't do it though, because there are so many established breeders out there doing a fine job and the market for horses is not good. But if I'm just daydreaming, that would be great. But I'm going to stick with geldings. :)

If I were being practical I guess I would say chickens..but I am NOT being practical and I say Mona the milk cow. She is perfect and my dream cow. (and she is Libbie's Evelyn's mom!!)
