My granny just sent me a large grocery bag full of kale, I have no idea what to do with it, I know some of you will have some great tips. Thanks Karen

I make soup in the winter with kale, I think in this weather I'd use it for mulch...

Yum! Fresh Kale is great sauteed in olive oil with lots of garlic and a little onion. It wilts down like spinach. Take out the tough stems first but leave the softer ones. They will soften up too. Actually you can do this with all variety of greens. Mixed Greens is really good too. bok choy is my favorite, also curly mustard. Love greens and so good for you. full of vitalizing minerals.

Stir fry with garlic and bacon..yum!!! I love it shredded and added to salad too, or steamed with other veggies. I wish I had planted kale this year...but didn't .....sigh......

I blanch mine in boiling water for just a minute or two, dump into cold water, drain well and freeze!

I use it with stir-fried veggies. Just cut it up and mix it in with all the others. Even hust serving it as a side dish, like spinach is good, steamed.

if using for smoothies I do not blanch- just clean and freeze. I use my greens up in a month though.

Smoothies. What else do you mix with it? Are you making veggies smoothies with carrots or adding it to fruit smoothies? Sounds interesting.

Karen,
Funny thing, I just bought some kale at the farmers market and, never having used it before, had to research some recipes. You can quick saute it and serve it with parmesan and tortellini, I also found a recipe that uses it as a calzone filling - sounds yummy
