ALL THE WAY TO THE HOSPITAL! last night i took my shoes off to take a shower .. went through the 'lower cabin' .. and picked up an american flag that was lying on honey hunk's sofa .. i didn't realize he had big heavy TV speakers on it .. and one came crashing down on my 'baby toe'! cut that sucker almost to the bone! yep! i bled like a 'stuck pig'!! Hank said i invented a few new words .. in a vry loud voice right after the crash ... and he came a-runnin'! being a type one diabetic .. i am so aware of toes and feet!!!! but one moment of carelessness! WELL .. i hopped in the shower to clean it off .. then honey man took me to the emergency room .. the "PA" .. (physician's assistant) said it fractured the bone .. he said the cut wasn't as DEEP as i imagined .. but they cleaned and 'glued' it shut and wrapped it next to my other toe (because of the break) .. and put me on antibiotics.

DANG! there went that fun trip with Kathy Sugarbucket to Indiana this morning! I have to try to 'keep off it' and not get it wet for the next 4 days .. then go let my doc look at it.

any little prayer-ettes you wanna' forward heavenward would be appreciated!

anyhoo .. i'm gonna' sit and watch movies on TV and make dollies over the next four days!

oh .. a story: when i got there .. they said they had JUST sent another diabetic lady home after fixing TWO of her toes that she ran her 'hoveraround' over!

the doc said i would do much better because she was 'quite old' .. 67 years old!!! HA! i looked at him with my wild-child hair and told him that was my EXACT age. he was shocked .. said he thought i was in my 40's .. GOD LOVE HIM!!! (he was sooooooooooooo YOUNG!) I guess being in your 60's sounds ancient to him!!!

hank and this 'kid' had a great conversation about playing RUGBY!

i'm hobbling today (with a clean white sock on .. not going anywhere near that dang sofa! .. and trying to keep cabin and creek from stepping on me!

WHAT WERE TV SPEAKERS DOING ON THE SOFA???? (hank got a wonderful new TV table for his big-screen tv .. and we assembled it .. he never did get the speakers hooked up .. jus' put them on the SOFA t'il he does!)

it hurt some in the middle of the night .. so instead of taking the 'pain pills' the hospital gave me .. i just popped a coupla' MOTRINS (i swear .. i would do commercials for them!!!!) and it hasn't hurt since! i don't like strong pain pills even if they are non-narcotic. do you guys take pain pills? i told this little Dr. Dude that the only time i had a codeine-based pain pill .. i fell asleep and dreamed i was a tree and had all my branches cut off!

i guess i can hallucinate pretty easily! (HA! sometimes without being induced to by drugs!)

well, i've rambled on and on about my little toe! but it seems to be my 'grande adventure' for the next few days!

whut cha'll up to today?

Frannie - Ouch! I feel your pain. I broke a piggy a few years ago - and it was sort of my fault since I was walking but looked backwards at my husband because he had said something that made no sense, and I turned around to see if he had turned into an alien or something. Anyway, hit the doorframe and busted the toe. We were about to go to Italy so I bought clogs with lots of toe room and hobbled away. I guess the moral is 1: wear shoes 2: don't give your husband dirty looks while walking???

have you thought of putting magnets your bandage? It helps draw the blood to the area. Actually, they make shoe inserts with magnets which are fantastic for diabetics because it helps the feet get more blood flow all around. Just a thought. Hope your toe heals soon!!!

Ouch, Frannie. Don't tell me it don't hurt. I once broke my middle toe when I went to kick the dog who was drinking from the toilet and he moved. I let out quite a string of colorful words!

You in army boots...mmmm. I think you'd look really cute in them. Or you'd make them look cute. Either way, I like the idea.

Frannie, My dad was a diabetic so I know how careful you have to be so prayers are being said for a fast, recovery, with no complications. I'm the same way about taking medicine all I take is Exedrin. But dont think Ive ever had a problem with dreamin I was a tree!lol Guess thats the advantages of not taking pills! Karen

Frannie. That must of hurt like the dickens! I know, I have banged my toes up so many times! Tom says it's because I NEVER look down! He's right but I'll never admit it. I will say prayers for your healing with no problems. A number of our friends are diabetic so I know the risks. Sorry about you missing your trip, I know you were looking forward to it.Take it easy and keep your feet up,4 days will go quickly.

Hugs MJ

Frannie,
So sorry to hear about your mis-hap. My oldest son, when he was a baby jumped off the couch with his heavy white lace up shoes on and landed on my little toe. BROKE IT. I know they hurt. The good news is they usually heal pretty fast.I think the owrst part is missing the trip with Sugar!

Poor Frannie! I know how you were looking forward to your trip to Indiana. And it is worrisome to have a toe injury as a diabetic . . . but you need to focus on healing thoughts, not worrisome thoughts. Do some visualization meditation, seeing your toe healed and whole again, with good circulation in that little toe. Sending some healing thoughts your way . . . katie

Oh, Frannie! I'm so sorry! I'll be thinking of you!
You have the BEST attitude about EVERYTHING. I swear, I'd be feeling sorry for myself...not you!...you're planning a social gathering! Your attitude really is amazing...and THAT will help you heal faster than anything. Keep us posted!

How are you doing? Toes are nasty to break--it's not like you can cast them that's why they were taped. My sister used to get her toes broken all the time when she had horses over 20 years ago.

goin' to the doc this morning to have him take a peek at it. i didn't realize until last night that it is seeping little droplets of blood every now and then (i've been walking on it!) ... now i have it stuck up in the air likei had on a pair of wizard shoes! i think he will clean it out and change the tape on it. don't have any pain with it .. no swellling .. i'm sure it's black and blue under the tape though.

then .. i'm gonna' go sit by the lake and read a good book while honey hunk does his 'sculling'. a nice day for being outside! xo
