Anyone know a thing or two about huckleberries? Can they be grown in a contained space or do they run wild like blackberries? I'd sure love to have some, but I'm not familiar with growing them at all. Thanks!

Many people have tried growing huckleberries in their home gardens and have failed. You cannot successful transplant them and to my knowledge no cultivated variety has been developed. Gotta do it the old fashioned way and harvest them in the wild. JoAnn

Hmmm...well, I wonder where I can find a bumper crop in my area so I can make a bunch of jam? I'll have to scout out the farmers' markets, I guess. Thanks for the heads-up, JoAnn.

Just came back from the Farmer's Market in town and someone had huckleberries for sale. It look like less than a cup for $3. These are probably from lower elevations. Talk to someone who was up higher and they were still green. She said looked bigger than usual. Easier picking. JoAnn
