I would like your gals' honest (and I mean totally honest) oppinion on an idea I've been toying with for an online store.
I have been thinking about opening a year round rummage sale online. I have even went so far to start set up of a shop on ecrater.
I would like to know if you gals think this is a good idea. If it would catch on. Tell me what you like, what you don't like. Pick it apart.

You can see what I have put together so far at http://www.brokenin.ecrater.com/ You can't make any purchases, the store has been put on hold. I did that this afernoon after I tested it and realized the shipping calculator was acting like a blood thirsty parasite. So obviously ecrater isn't going to work. But earlier this evening I found a different online storefront. BUT this one requires an extreme amount of work. I am not a computer guru by any means but if I think it is worth a shot I will hack away till I get it right.

I'm looking for honest oppinions of if you think it is worth the time to set up. (I'm looking at probably around 2 to 4 weeks to learn all I need to know and get everything in the proper place for the new store.) Suggestions on anything that can make it better or things that aren't working.

Thanks! I really appreciate your help.

Melanie

emailed you Melanie. I'm interested in a few of your treasures for my soon to be new home..there are a few items you have that would go well with the look I want to create.
have emailed you through the site here..you might have to check spam folder if you have never received email from me before though as sometimes emails can go into the spam folder by mistake.
I have a few friends using the ecrater and they seem to like it.

Hey Melanie, Love the Humpty Dumpty have you sold him yet? I think your prices are great I'm a sucker for cheap. I hardly ever buy if the prices are to high but your's are priced to go! Good luck on the new store I think it would be a hit, if the prices stay the same.(just being honest) Karen

I think that it is a great idea. Way better than e-bay! I looked at the site and you have given your items great prices.

I know you think that the shipping is going to be too high but I really didn't think they were. You have to remember that while you will probably be able to ship things most of the time in and with recycled goods there will be times that you actually have to purchase supplies. So don't sell yourself short. When you get one of them up and running let me know!!

Your site is a good idea, and just think folks could thrift online! You have done a good job making it look appealing. Good luck!

I suggest that you open up a "Rummage Sale Booth" over on the Farmgirl Barter- Free for you and you could just post the pictures and prices there!

Thanks for the input ladies. I really appreciate it.
I am a sucker for yard sales and great deals and the worst thing (for me anyway) is going to one where everything is so overpriced. I definately plan to keep prices as low as I can. Now every once in awhile I may have a brainfart and mark something higher than I mean to. I caught a couple of glitches in setting up shop. If I ever post something you like, but if you think I may have had a brain spasm in pricing, give me a shout and I'll get it fixed.
My biggest reason for starting this store is to thin out my over crowded house and I really don't have the time or the tables to set up a "traditional" rummage sale.

Karen~ Humptey Dumptey is still here and still looking for a new home. :)

Great idea Alee, I might think about that some more.

Also I hope to get a list of some things I'm looking to barter for posted on my blog soon.

Ahh, so many projects, so little time. *sigh*
Thank you!!
Melanie

VERY cool idea, Melanie! Your site looks very nice, too!! Personally, I'd go with both Alee's idea, and your site. The more ya get out there, the better the store will do. Good luck!!

Hi, Melanie. I think it looks great! Have you used the fixed shipping button? I've been using that. I've been sort of just estimating the shipping price.

I will be putting up things that are less priced, but I had these photos and things to sell and some of them are a little higher priced. I realized I left the linens at my mom's house and now I have to wait to get them up on the site. Agghh! lol

Good luck to you. I am going to put up a link to you and Tina Michelle's site here. :)
