I can't decide if I want to do simple hot dogs or something more elaborate. It will just be my husband, myself and my mother in law.

My children have gone camping, so I'm thinking it will be just me at my house. I'm going to grill myself a pork chop and have a salad!

Brats on the fire, coleslaw (cabbage from garden), potato salad (from garden), and whatever everyone else brings! I love the 4th of July!

The morning will be a pancake breakfast with my daughter's young adult friends--fluffy whole wheat cakes with maple syrup(I grind my flour, tend my chickens, but in California the Maple syrup comes from Costco) Eggs to order, bacon from my daugher's last batch of hogs, fresh orange/tangelo juice.
Later in the day we will be with friends and older relatives, so it will be bratwurst and beef franks, homemade rolls, tomatoes, cukes, pasta salad, carrot sticks, and cobbler, probably apricot or nectarine, with a cream cheese pastry topping. The beef franks are from the store, the rest home produced.

Take care, Shelba

We will bbq some rib steaks and have my baked beans, a big old green salad and hopefully corn on the cob and some garlic french bread and homemade rootbeer.

okay I've thought about it and I am thinking of going with. Beer boiled Brats, kraut, potato salad for myself, chips for richie, homemade mac and cheese and corn on the cob. Dessert will be homemade chocolate ice cream!

Oooo! The pulled pork sounds fantastic, Samantha! Yum! Might be borrowing that idea.... ;)

We generally do the potato chips, burgers, hot dogs thing. Love a cob of grilled corn with it, too. Better then candy!

We are doing hamburgers, hot dogs, potato salad, baked beans, chips & dip. The kids are making homemade rootbeer. Probably chocolate delight for dessert or fresh blackberry cobbler with homemade ice cream.

We've always had a family tradition of banana splits on the 4th. Unfortunately this year all my children will be on a camping trip-memorial service so I guess DH and I will be eating ice cream alone. He will probably want to bbq something, too.
