My hubby requested popcorn balls yesterday (which I never make) and I thought I'd ask here for a good recipe. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Oh, I'd be interested in this recipe, too. I'm going to try forming popcorn balls out of my caramel corn recipe come the holidays, but I bet there's some other nice recipes that aren't caramel based...??

here is the basic recipe i use. i often change it for different flavors like by adding a flavoring or by using brown sugar instead of white or using molasses in place of soem of the corn syrup.ejoy and let me know if you try out other flavors!
2 1/2 quart popped corn
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup light corn syrup
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vinager
1 teaspoon vanilla or other flavoring
Measure popcorn into buttered bow, 4 qt or larger. In heavy sauce pan combine sugar, corn syrup, salt, and vinager. Cover and bring to a brisk boil for 3 minutes. Uncover and cook to hardball stage (260 degrees), remove from heat. Add vanilla or other flavoring. Pour over popcorn, stirring well with buttered spoon to coat each kernal. Immediately form gently into balls with buttered hands. Yeild about 12 2 1/2 inch balls

Wow Kim, your hubby is in luck... In MaryJane's new book "MaryJane's Outpost" she give 3 pages to the topic of popcorn (yum) with some awesome recipes for Cracker Jill"s and Trail Mix Popcorn (pages 96,97,98).....So many varieties too.....I really want to try the trail Mix popcorn Balls...... My 11 year old and I did the homemade Smoores (baking the graham crakers and homemade marshmellow)... (MaryJane's Idea book) and they were so yummy.. I think it be will a family favorite.... So I think we will try the popcorn too....
