Went for a drive to check on huckleberries. Still 2-3 weeks off ready at our favorite patch. It was a long winter. Even though it's 100 at home, we drove over patches of snow on the mountain. Nature is amazing. How can the sun boil my brains while my toes are in snow? (Yes, I wore a hat and drank lots of water. No bears this time. But no berries yet either.) :)

We make a difference.

Carol Sue, you make me smile. My husband did the driving, and while I had my bearspray, he had something a bit more effective with him. I don't think I'll go up there alone again. I got to thinking that with the berries being so late this year, those bears might opt for whatever comes along, me! I know if I woke up and couldn't find what I was expecting, I might get a bit grumpy, so I bet they are too.

It sure was lovely! Nothing like getting out to recharge my personal batteries. Lots of wild strawberry blossoms, chorus of birds, fresh air. It is just getting to be spring on the mountains, so it was like a bit of time travel to be there yesterday. Cooled down by dipping my ever-ready tea towel in a snow-melt seep. It was lovely.

You sure I couldn't entice you to come along? What do your plans look like 2-3 weeks from now? With gas prices the way they are, I'm looking at doing some camping/picking and avoiding the drive back home each night. Going to try to get it all done in a few days. They have some darling cabins with kitchenettes near my favorite spot. Just right for getting my wine started or a few jars of jam canned. And talk about adorable cabins! Girl, you just might need a stay-cation. Well, close to home vacation anyway. :) All the giggling, fresh air, and great company? Hmm? :)

We make a difference.
