Just joined and am excited to see all the great posts. I have lived on a farm in central Kansas for 25 years. We both work outside the home(boo hoo but the bills have to be paid)have chickens for eggs, a small garden, mules, 3 dogs and cats. I am within a year of retiring from the "city" job and looking forward to getting my shop up and running, which will be right out my back door! Ahh, the good life, 20 steps instead of over priced gas for a 60 mile round trip every day. And if it doesn't work out for a 2nd income it will make a great guest house.

Welcome Renee,
Good to have another mid-westerner here. I can see where you would want to leave that 60-mile RT to work. What will you do in your new "shop"?

I was born and sort of raised in Alliance, NE but parents moved to WA a long time ago. I missed all my relatives and that is what makes family.

Good luck in your shop quest.

Details: Married with 2 kids, 3 grandkids. The shop is a house(14x28) I bought at auction and had moved to the farm. One 1/2 will be my studio and the other 1/2 will be my art work and resale.I am a sculpter of Santa's and I paint on anything that doesn't move. I like to take throw away stuff and repurpose it into something new, usually for the garden. I have collected old trim and doors for years and will do the inside with those including some very cool 1800's pocket doors to seperate the 2 areas. I just finished tearing out the last of the old lathe and plaster this weekend(ugh very dirty job)In December I will have my 30 years in as a Customer Service Technician with AT&T,yep I am one of the few women you see climbing those telephone poles! Thanks for all the great replys. Welcome!!! I'm fairly new myself but this sure seems like a friendly place to land! 60 miles to work and back sounds like a lot. Also sounds like you have retirement plans--that's a good thing!!
