| I am writing this to all farm girls to send me a positive thought while I wait to find out about a farm I just put an offer on. It is 5.8 acres with 2 large barns, a chicken coup and an old farmhouse with amazing woodwork and crown molding. Please cross your fingers for me and I will keep you posted on how it goes. |

Good luck. Pleae remember, if it doesn't work out....something will com eyour way that was meant to be. 17 years ago we put a bid on 5 aces that we 'thought' we dearly loved. It turned out the soils would not hold the pond we wanted to dig and a few other challenges. We loved the township and wanted so much to be there. I was heartbroken and knew nothing would ever compare.
Well..we ended up buying 11 acres 3 miles away and got everything and more we wanted. We love our place and are grateful that the old property didn't work out because we are so happy here.
I do hope it works...but keep looking if it doesn't!

| Same thing happened to us about 15 years ago...we were heartbroken when the place sold before we could sell our own place. That winter they had a foot of water in their basement. We ended up with 13 acres which is a little piece of Eden to us. What is meant to be will be...keep the faith. |

Thanks for the great thoughts and prayers. They have accepted our bid and we sign formal papers on Saturday. I have spent so long looking for just the right place. Every time I went something was not right, either too close to a busy road, too expensive, etc. The second I saw it I knew it was right. There are 3 stained glass windows, french doors into the formal dining room and the wood is a rich oak throughout the home. The only sort of garden is a small one with a trellis. I plan on using all the resources I can through this farmgirl connection. Updates to come and hopefully some photos too.

Congratulations Beth! The place sounds lovely with the windows and french doors! So glad it worked out for you. And 2 large barns! Have fun dreaming and planning.

Congratulations Beth! I usually go by the old rule of: "if it feels right it's usually meant to be" and "gut instinct" goes a long way in making good decisions! Those two thoughts have helped me many times over the years!
Your farm sounds lovely, can't wait to see pics of that beautiful woodwork and those stained glass windows, wow! Thanks for sharing with us, oh what fun!!!

Hi y'all
Papers are signed and the farm is mine! we spent the weekend up there with the seller and his family. I feel more like I adopted the farm then bought it. My family and I have been entrusted with what was the orignal farm house on 370 acres, used as a dairy farm producing butter and milk. It has been broken up over the years and what is left is 6 acres, 2 large barns- one still waiting for the cows to return(though upstairs is a full basketball court!) On the corner, 2 houses up the road is the old 1 room school house which was open until 1953 and then turned into a residence. The woodwork in the farmhouse was done by Anders Carlson, who was quite a fine carpenter in his time. The stained glass windows were probably bought from traveling salemen in the early 20's and have actual tiffany glass in them. I am looking for as much history as I can find on the original owners but we believe they were related to the carpenter.
I am trying to put pictures up. I'll let you know when I firgure it out. |

I would be curious to know approx what an acreage like this sells for in your area. we bid 94 on 10 acres without a livable house. Good luck! |

| We paid just over 200. Most homes with acreage (5+) start at around 300,000. Because my house is older, I got a good deal on it. Homes in town with no land are selling for just under 200. Anyone interested in pictures I can email them unless someone knows how to put a link on this. |

When I post pics here, I use this link to get the img. Go to www.tinypic.com and you can upload whatever pics you'd like (no charge or sign ups necessary, which is what I like about this site).
Then hold down mouse key and copy the img. given for your pic, come here and paste the img info from tiny pics and the pictures should show. It's much easier than it sounds..
If you can't get it to work, please send your pics to me and I'll post them for you, ok! I'm sure all the farm gals would love to see them as much as I do! Thanks!

Thanks Sher! I have emailed them and hopefully they will be posted soon! Now onto a farm name- Anyone have ideas? On the corner by the house is the old panola schoolhouse. The farm used to be a dairy farm. My family is Irish with all Irish names. It will have an organic garden which I may go to market with, plus some cut flowers(you gotta have fresh flowers on the kitchen table!)
I am open to anything. This is also my second chance with a farm. When we sold our first one I was glad to be in a modern home. That was 2 years ago and now after much searching I have found this one so it is my second chance. |

May you always be happy with your farm. Yes, I feel the same way that we adopt farms not own them. So much blood sweat and tears have gone into building them they have a life of their own.
