Back in March a drunk driver totaled our parked and empty car, this set in motion a domino effect that resulted in me being laid off from my Care-giving job (No transportation to work).
The insurance company didn't want to pay me lost wages, but by suing in small claims court, the insurance will have to pay if I get a judgment in my favor.
Yesterday was the last day for the plaintiff to file his answer to my suit, which he didn't do. So today I filed default papers and it went before the judge. I'm not sure why, but I couldn't present my case to the judge, I just had to give the clerk the evidence. I am praying that the judge finds in my favor, but I won't know until at the earliest tomorrow.
So please keep your fingers crossed for me as this would mean we could pay about 5 months of rent ahead at our new apartment. This judgment would mean a lot towards our overall goals of getting out of debt and working towards a home of our own.
Thanks!

Alee, I hope the judge finds in your favor. This is something you are entitled to in my opinion. The drunken driver shouldn't be allowed to mess up peoples lives and income and get away with it! I am just so glad the car was empty and no one was injured.
Hugs and Prayers MJ

Thanks Ladies!
I get to see the Judge on Monday. I am very pleased about this as it is always hard to get the full weight of the impact this has had on our family on paper without sounding like whining.

Hi ladies!
The Judge did give me a judgment in my favor but not for only 1/3 the full amount. I faxed the judgment to the insurance company and they hopefully will be able to get the settlement to be before we leave. I am glad to say goodbye to this matter! Thanks for all the support and well wishes!
