Dear Farmgirls, My name is Carol and I live in Maryland. I am pretty new to the forum and thought I should introduce myself. I am trying to think of things to do to make my home more of a farmgirl home - and I realize it really already looks that way for the most part. I've started some gardening, and have some projects I'm working on - I'm going to crochet a few new dishcloths, and I'm currently making some yo-yos but haven't decided what I'll do with those yet. Also I ordered some of the vintage transfer patterns to embroider for my kitchen towels!!!
I spent half my life in southwestern Virginia with my grandparents who basically had a little farm. I loved it there, and my best memories are from the times I spent there and all the cool stuff I did with my grandma - she taught me how to can, how to crochet, how to embroider, how to cook on a wood stove, how to pick blackberries, and I could go on and on but I won't. She (my Grandma Lizzie) was the ultimate farmgirl to me!
Just wanted to say how much I love it here and how much I feel at home here. This is such a wonderful site. I just signed up to be an official member of the Farmgirl sisterhood!

Howdy from Texas Carol! We're so glad you made it. As I tell everyone, we've been waiting for you! You can cook on a woodstove? whooooooa sweet! That's one of the things I want and want to learn how to do. Anyway, welcome and come on in! kate

Welcome Carol, Glad you found us! You sure are a busy farmgirl. Growing up with your grandma s sounds just lovely. I can remember my granny's old wood cookstove but she got a "real" kitchen remodel when I was about 6, so I didn't learn how to use it.

Hi-Carol-you and I have a connection already---YO-Yos. I love them. I have made a throw for the couch, the top for a jumper, fronts for 5 vests, the neck of a blouse and front of a belt, purses, and now I am putting them on the aprons I make. They are so much fun. I know you will love this site.

Hi Carol,
Congrats on becoming a sister farm girl. I just joined a few months ago and I am so glad that I did. I am also working on yoyo's (gonna sew mine together with a backing to make a quilt)and I love to emrboider (right now, I am working on a kind of emrbroidered quilt with a country courting couple) when I am done, I will post a pic here that is if I can figure out how, lol. Take care and welcome again, Marcy
