Okay. I had a sewing machine 10 years ago. It blew up and I want to buy a new one. Not a big fancy one, just a small one that does the basics and makes buttonholes. Does anyone have a recommendation for me? Your favorite sewing machine and the best for the lowest price? I don't have a lot of money to spend on one, but if I'm going to make aprons now, well, looks like I need one. Thank you, CarolBrigid |

I bought a Singer from Walmart several years ago for $99 and I really like it. Nothing fancy. Forwards, backwards, zigzag, buttonholes. I've always been a Singer girl. I made my wedding gown and six bridesmaids gowns on a Singer tredle machine. I think that if you go to a sewing machine store they let you test drive them. You'll know which one feels comfortable to you right away. Good luck and have fun! Susan |

Hi Susan, Yep my old one that blew up was a Singer and I had had it for many years before it finally died. I will take a look at Walmart. You can't beat Singer sewing machines. Gosh you made all that on a tredle machine? Wow!!! Thanks! Oh wow, I see you live in Lancaster! I'm south of you, not too far from Baltimore. I haven't been to Lancaster County for a while now. I need to visit there sometime soon! CarolBrigid |

Hey Tammy!!! I know you got those fabulous bargains!!! I'd love to see those sewing machines. I went to Walmart today and I saw a couple of sewing machines each under $100. One by Singer, and the other by Brother. I have to decide. They both look like good sewing machines for the price. ! Farmgirl Hugs, Carol

I got a Brother, with something like 110 stitches for $130 on Overstock.com So far I love it, and it does way more than I will ever need. They had all kinds of different models there so it was easy to compare. I think they had customer reviews too which are always helpful.
