These special words have meant a lot to me this week.
Mary Jane wrote to me this week and we were chatting about the upcoming changes in my family..as we prepare to get our home ready for the market and to be able to move closer to family...and she said to me... "remember to mutter under your breath "Farm Girl Plowing Through"
Well...I didn't give it too much thought until I found myself this week on my knees in my hallway bathroom doing a complete bathroom paint job... painting and stretching (the ladder would not fit in the bathroom so some of the work was very tedious and involved me having to be on my knees on the counter through some areas so that I could reach things without bonking my head..ha) needless to say..after a few days of first sanding cupboard doors, repainting those, then all the trim work and cutting in and then rolling paint...I was quite sore in my neck and shoulders and in some muscles I had suddenly forgotten that I had....
but....when I thought to myself that oh my goodness my muscles are seizing up...and I just can't possibly keep doing this today...I would begin to tell myself.."hey girl..remember..."Farm Girl Plowing Through".."you can do it!" You can get all of this done that needs doing."
You see..I'm the painter in the family when it comes to painting walls and ceilings...my husband sweet and talented as he is...just is not talented in the area of painting walls..so..that lot..falls upon me..and it's not always easy to paint an entire room without a ladder because no ladder can fit in this room and enable you to reach the areas you need to.
So...anyhow..long story short...I have a new mantra now as I tackle the things that need doing in preparation for getting this house on the market..and that is ....."Farm Girl Plowing Through!"
Thanks Mary Jane...it's just the boost I needed.

What a nice post, Tina. It made me think the new t-shirts that Meg and MaryJane are considering should say that on them....Farmgirl Plowing Through....like the bumper stickers say.

I hope your painting is almost at an end! Painting gets harder as the years go by, too. In our family, hubby does the walls and I do all the woodwork and edging. I remember laying on the floor doing baseboards and the last time I did that and scooched all around the room, I was stiff the next day!!! Very, very stiff and sore. Good luck on your project. Keep plowing through!!! :)

Oh Tina, You can do it! We just went thru that too - painting, fixing... taking care of the odds and ends that we were going to get to soon.... but in getting the house ready to put on the market - you get forced into plowing thru and doing it now.

I might have missed earlier posts, but where is your family and where are you moving to?

PS - did you start those iris seeds that we exchanged last fall?

Tina-

We must have twin bathrooms and I am going to be doing the same process in about a week. I have been packing for a few weeks already and that saying is my mantra as well! Some days I want to stay in bed and throw my covers over my head and I just say to myself "Gotta get 'er done...farmgirl plowin' though!" I often silently send that vibe to my hubby since sometimes he can drag his feet and not get things done!

well things are still moving forward..I got one of the major, major projects with the house done ...a couple of weeks ago...a 15 hrs worth paint job..it was extremely tedious because I had to use a paint brush that was only about 1/4 th of an inch wide..why?? because I had to paint wavy wooden trim that was smack dab up against the nice wallpaper that I wanted to leave up. Anyhow..painters tape does NOT work well on wallpaper..so the trim work had to be carefully painted by hand.
See my blog for the pretty color my hallway is now though.
www.gardengoose.blogspot.com

see here:
http://gardengoose.blogspot.com/2008/08/my-entry-for-art-challengeandseeing-red.html
--------------
Many other projects have been completed. I managed to get almost all of my "keeper" plants/roses all potted up. I have a few other things to get potted up yet, but have to buy pots for what remains..but most of that chore is done now as well.
----------------
The prep work for getting the house ready is going real well though. There are some things that I decided to just not fret over..and to simply cross off the list and leave "as is".
We have put thousands of dollars already into this house and yard over the 8 yrs we have been here that it is now time for someone else to take over the tasks of making this home how they would like it to be.
--------------
The remaining tasks are minimal ones now. And the only real thing remaining is to make sure the yard has been straightened up, hedges trimmed, weed eating, trees trimmed..that sort of normal monthly yard maintenance type thing... and then the interior of the house will again be down sized one final time..and all the decor will begin to be "staged" and minimized..things will be boxed up and sorted and stored in the garage until the move.I only have one room that I am going to worry with getting painted..the rest I will let the new owners do
But..yes..things are still on track and headed forward.

aww Alee..thanks... I'm like anyone else though..some days I have that go getter attitude..other days my go getter has gotten up and gone somewhere else for a day or two..ha
..but..I like it though when I can say about a task that has been looming over me ..."job's done!"..
it is a nice feeling to have a big chore out of the way and progress being made.

I couldn't really see the color, dang computers.. but I looked at your DH's etsy site and he's got some cool stuff! I really like the Vintage Odd phots... too funny! I always hate to see those old photos in the box at the antique store.. Who are those people in the pictures? Why did someone give them away?
And the wall decals, those would be perfect for me. We don't own our house and painting si not an option.. Does he do Thomas the Train or John Deere? How bout Disney Prinsess?!? THo the butter flies would do well in my dd's room.

Tina- Glad to hear that things are getting back to normal. You should be proud of everythingyou've accompished!! Phew, I'm tired just reading about it.
I love the Vintage Odd Photos. Hilarious! The branch with the birds is fab and I am looking for a spot in my house where it would fit. Cool, cool, cool.

Thanks so much for your encouraging post. It did me good to see that - been feeling a little down lately. I don't envy you the big job of getting your house ready to sell. I remember when I did mine and thought to myself that I was doing all this for someone else. I should have been doing it for myself all the years I lived there to enjoy! Love the red trim!!
