Hi Farmgirls,
I've been gleaning info from this site for a while now (ie, lurking )and think it's about time I introduced myself.

I live in Knoxville, TN but grew up in rural WV where we always had a garden and my mom canned lots of veggies every year. My grandmother had chickens, hogs, and a cow.

I currently have a couple of raised beds of my own (organic, of course!) and hope to buy a farm house with a few acres in the next couple of years. I really want my kids to grow up as farm kids. They are 8, 6 and 6 months, so we need to get busy. I also love to sew and knit.

In the past few weeks, I have joined the sisterhood and started a local chapter with a few of my best farmgirl friends. We know each other from our homeschool co-op and share many of the same farmgirl interests. This week our co-op is decorating aprons to wear as we prepare lunch each week.

Nice to meet you all,
Michelle

Hi Michelle,

So glad to see you here. I lived in Nashville, Clarksville and Ashland City, Tennessee. Granted, that was almost thirty years ago. Beautiful state. Your gonna love it here. This is such a wonderful, caring bunch of people.
Take care,
Marcy

Hi Marcy.
My hubby and I moved here in 1999 from AL. (That's where he grew up.) We love it here and definitely think of it as our home now.

Thanks for the warm farmgirl welcome!

I forgot to mention that I am making all the aprons! I'm making them in 4 different sizes since we have kids all ages. I have spent all afternoon cutting about 20 of them out and ironing straps.

Hi Michelle! What a pleasure to have you join this lovely group of farmgirls.

I live and homeschool in West Tennessee though, I too, was born in WV where many of my family remain. My mom & dad are your neighbors in nearby Maryville. I just love your country. Those mountains always make me homesick.

I hope you'll share photos of your apron creations. Wishing you the very best with your farmgirl dreams. Dreams do come true. I call them blessings!

Blessings, Lea

Wow! Lea, we have a lot in common. Most of my family is in WV as well. My mom just brought me a family cookbook and there is a picture of nearly 300 people at the last family reunion!

I know what you mean about the mountains. They're in my blood too. I've been contemplating a couple of weeks of family hopping sometime this summer to get a good fix. But with dh unable to take off work and with three kiddos, the youngest 6 months, I don't see that happening. *sigh* A day over in the smokies usually does me good when I feel like this.

oh, yeah. I added pics of the aprons on my blog.

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome!

Michelle

I went by and checked out your aprons, Michelle. You did a great job! Amazing. And that baby of yours is cute as can be!

I feel the same way about the mountains. I just breathe them in when I'm there. It's like life to me, really. Our family reunion is in West Virginia this weekend. Sadly, I have to miss since my 2 boys are graduating. It makes me sad and I know exactly how you feel. Maybe somehow, someway, you'll get to make that trip.

Wishing you the very best!
