Who has gotten a degree or certificate online? Which schools do you think are the best?

I got my Associates online through Dallas County Community College. Ok school- people are hard to deal with from a distance but everything transferred over to Texas State. I am online now, working on my bachelor's. I had to do my A and P class in an actual live class and my interships, but other than that, it is all online and I love it.

Coming from the military, I have seen a lot of problems with places like ITT tech, Phoenix University, etc..the one's that are always advertising. From what I understand, their classes do not transfer to other school and some employeers see those schools as a joke. Please avoid them and I apologize if anyone has gone through them. They made a big ta-do while I was in the military over what a scam these schools are.

Do a LOT of research and make sure if you plan to transfer credit, it goes to your next school. Just have the school run a check on the classes.

I'm working on my Masters of Science in Management through Indiana Wesleyan University. I finished my Bachelor's with the same school but went to classes. I took a few electives online and liked the format so much that I decided to do my entire Masters program this way. The classes are very time consuming and certainly not easy! I am in class #6 of 12 right now...so almost halfway done!!

I caution you to make sure the university you choose is accredited and that you degree will actually be worth something. As someone in HR, I can tell you that many hiring managers are not impressed with University of Phoenix. It's not respected as an actual education provider AT ALL!

I've taken online classes in business, marketing, and animal science through the community college in Ontario, Oregon. It was alright, I mean, there was nothing wrong with it, but it seemed detached from an actual school experience.

Now, however, I am enrolled with the Art Institute of Pittsburg Online, going for a certificate in Residential Planning (interior design), and I absolutely love it. Because it's set up as an actual online school, versus random classes posted to the Internet, it's been a wonderful experience. There's more of a sense of community and school pride and all that stuff you get at an actual, physical school, the way that they encourage participation, networking, etc.

Oh, and I think most of their credits can be transferred. Can't remember for sure, though... But they're excellent people to work with, and are completely accredited, all that jazz.

My daughter is currently working on an associates degree in accounting from Phoenix University Online and she is doing very well. She is 20 and had a few "bumps" as an adolescent, needed to get her GED and now is studying and working nearly full time as an audit at a local hotel. She is able to keep up with her studies and support herself as well. Their advisors are top notch. If you start to fall behind or feel discouraged they actually phone you! It thrills me as a mom to see her get herself straightened out finally!
