I posted a question quite a while ago about trying to find an old pattern from the 70's of capes I made my boys because I wanted to make some for my grandsons. No luck so I just decided to wing it and this is what I came up with.http://janiszettel.blogspot.com/

Hi Janis - Read your blog about how your grandsons didn't like their capes. I used to be a Head Start teacher and we had capes in the classroom and the boys LOVED them - fought over them in fact. So I made my 4 year old grandson a blue satin superman cape with a big D for his name on the back - I thought it was really cool. Gave it to him and he too, was disinterested. Maybe it has to do with moms are not letting their kids watch TV so much or there aren't any Superheros that are popular right now. I don't know - it was very weird to me too! The Head Start boys used to put them on and fly around the room and playground - but Dalton looked at his like he didn't know what to do with it!

OMG!! that cape is just awesome!!
I used to grab my mom's crummier bath towels and tie them on when I was a little "superwoman". LOL
I made costumes for my son all the time for "make believe" and he loved 'em.(22 now) What's up with kids anymore?

Janis, I just love them!! I have a 4.5 year old that loves to run around naked (I swear I am lucky to keep underwear on that boy). Anyway, he loves to wear capes and be naked! My 8 year old still loves capes. I am sorry the boys didn't like them. My boys would have been thrilled.

Found a picture of SuperDalton. Believe me - he took the cape off right after I took this picture and probably hasn't picked it up since! You're right Bonne - what's up with kids these days?!?

SuperDalton..too cute!!
My boys have been outside the last couple of days (not today too windy.) they dug a hole and filled it with water- it was their pool.. of course they were covered with sand- and the laundry room and bathroom had it's fair share of sand as well. but they had soooo much fun. It was nice to see them outside enjoying themselves..

My Danny boy wore his vampire cape with safety pins onto EVERYTHING he wore for months. When I washed it a few times I secretly threw it away when it fell apart LOL
Of course then I had to start pinning his red Power Ranger cape onto everything. I did it for him all winter onto the outside of his coat. I could recognize him with all the kids because of the big red cape...LOL
He hasn't asked for it in awhile...but he's particular..it has to "flow" right, a towel woundn't work...
LOL

The capes are grand but I fell in love with the pillowcase dresses and their models of coarse. Good job girlfriend.

Those capes are fabulous, they will love them when they are a little older I bet. It was so nice to see all those great photos of all those cute kids, and I remember viewing the lovely pillowcase dresses before, they are still the cutest thing ever. Karin

Janis,
I made capes just like that when my (19yr old) was young. He still has them, packed away.Wore them forever and the great thing is that they never "strangle" the superhero who is wearing it! Yours are quite beautiful!!!
