talking in one of the other threads about 'silver' ware .. got me to snappin' pics of some of my collections.
these are some of the silver-plate 'odd' pieces i have purchased since moving to kentucky .. all my 'knives/fork/spoons' are still bundled up in that 'schoolhouse'.
i mostly collect 'big soup' spoons and other 'serving' pieces now.
i really LOVE great big spoons and ladles .. i got these two for about three bucks each!
some of these are a little 'rougher' .. but i got them for about a quarter each .. to make windchimes and other 'crafty' things with them.
i do believe that 'children's kitchenware' are at the very top of my fav list .. with the ones you list as a close second. all this has given me yet another spring cleaning job to do .. i think i'll polish it all!
but i best get dressed for that derby party now!
oh .. sometimes i'll make a beautiful little 'linen' bag from vintage linens and silk ribbon tie and put a 'pretty' piece of serving silver inside as a gift. so different and yet charming i do believe! xo
What a beautiful silverware collection! I have my Grandma's silver from the early 1900's. I love that and I also pick up larger spoons, tiny spoons and ladles(they are my favorite). I think that your everyday ware is the only one I have ever seen like that. Did she have it specially made for you? That is really unique. It looks hand made. Your treasures are so special.

girls .. our 'everyday' silverware came from BED, BATH & BEYOND!! wasn't hatefully expensive i don't believe .. i did see it and loved it and that's why wednesday got it for us. it looks great in our log cabin. (the EARLY kitchen ware is even better .. but lordy! it rusts so easily .. i save it for 'company' or every now and then for hank and me. i also have those great yellow and green and red handled sets from the 1930's. i really like those .. i'll take a pic to show ya'll.
heather darlin' .. don't be jealous .. jus' start your collection NOW and by the time you are as olde as me .. you'll have LOTS!
tina .. we had a wonderful time at the derby party. was so incredibly sad when the little filly fell and had to be sent to horse-heaven. who told me earlier to bet on BIG BROWN? sure wish i did!!! t'was grande fun today though. ate more than i should have .. always do at the Simmons' parties!
Frannie, I noticed the "apple" salt and pepper shakers in one of your photos. I have them, the grease jar and the cookie jar. My mother's dad bought 3 of the apple cookie jars for his 2 daughters and 1 daughter-in-law for Christmas years and years ago. My mother gave me hers. I was able to find the salt and pepper and the grease jar. I have them on top of my frig. I hope the get the other 2 apples one of these days so that I can pass all three along to our 3 daughters.
ADA MAE .. is it the salt and pepper that you need? cuz' if it is .. you can surely have my set if that is what will complete them for your daughters. jus' let me know. xoxo
Thanks Frannie for the offer of the salt and pepper apple. But it is the cookie jars I want to get from my 2 aunts so I can pass them along to my girls.
